My first R movie was Stallone's Judge Dredd, and I got the novelization first and had trouble following so my mom was concerned it might mean I wasn't ready for the film. I didn't learn until years later that the novelization came from a partial script, which is why they filled in the gaps with unrelated anecdotes not in the film. So bizarre.
I think the first R rated movie I saw in theatres was Freddy Vs Jason. By that point I was 13 and my parents loosened up on the sex stuff
First R rated movie in theaters was the Blair Witch Project. We were on vacation and my parents decided they wanted to see it because of the hype and the fact that we’re from Maryland. Someone in the crowd farted, or at least made a noise that sounded like a fart, and one of my sisters and I couldn’t stop laughing to the point where my parents threatened to remove us from the theater. Now I’m 36 and still laugh when I hear a fart in a theater (or anywhere) so I’m not sure how my parents didn’t find it just as funny.
growing up, my mom didn't really pay attention to film ratings whenever we went to the theaters. I'm pretty sure Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight was the first R-rated movie I saw in theaters. I was super young and it scared the hell out of me, lol
Remembering now that my second rated R movie in theatres was Bad Santa bc I asked my dad to take me and without looking into it at all, he assumed it was a kids’ movie and brought my 10-year-old sister along. He wasn’t very happy about that afterwards
My dad took me and my little brother to see Don’t Be a Menace and we all did the Abe Simpson meme out of there 4-5 minutes in.
I know we snuck into kill bill 2, don’t remember if I saw another r rated movie in theaters before that
my parents took me (12) and my sister (9) to see Scary Movie in theaters because they thought it would be a silly goofy family friendly comedy. we stayed through the whole thing and i've always respected them for that.
Snuck into American Pie 2 when I was 12. We had Showtime though so I was always watching garbage when my dad went to sleep
American Pie 2 probably. Saw it with my older brothers who were adults and my mom at the time. Randomly stopped on the way home from a road trip to see a movie.
