why you gotta kick me when i'm down (hard one) mother tongue in the dark (damn it! these are my two favourite tracks on the album) nihilist blues
why you gotta kick me when i'm down. Give it the edge for the bridge. ouch. This hex is on another level. heavy metal. Don’t like the radio vibes of in the dark, and heavy metal is catchy as heck, albeit lyrically clunky. nihilist blues. Possibly my second favorite on the record.
Current scores: sugar honey ice & tea - 6 why you gotta kick me when i'm down - 3 ouch - 3 mother tongue - 6 in the dark - 3 heavy metal - 6 nihilist blues - 2 wonderful life - 7
Oh it's a French Canadian album. They were not very well known until one of the songs got huge in Quebec near the end of the year.
It's Perfecto by Bleu Jeans Bleu. Half the charm comes from the funny lyrics though, but they're in french. They're also a really fun live band. Only thing I had heard from BMTH before was from random people putting songs from their first 2 albums at the bar and @BTDandFeelingThis telling me to listen to That's the Spirit a week before. Amo was a nice surprise I didn't expect to like so much.
@BTDandFeelingThis not surprised that you’re a big fan of in the dark since it has some imagine dragons vibes
Final scores: sugar honey ice & tea - 7 why you gotta kick me when i'm down - 3 ouch - 3 mother tongue - 7 in the dark - 4 heavy metal - 6 nihilist blues - 3 wonderful life - 7 Round 3: sugar honey ice & tea Vs. mother tongue heavy metal Vs. wonderful life
sugar honey ice & tea - Catchiest song on the album, hooks for days. The prechorus is super underappreciated, but Oli's vocals are perfect there. heavy metal - This one was pretty close, but I think the lyrics are a tiny bit better, and the outro definitely earns it some points.
That album just puts me in a good mood. I've had over 1000 scrobbles from that album last year while amo was second with a little over 600 scrobbles.
mother tongue (i like that sugar honey ice & tea is on the heavier side, but i’ll go with mother tongue which i think is one of the catchiest and most emotional songs on the album) heavy metal (i like both of these, but i’ll give this the edge because i think it’s a more interesting song and i prefer it from a lyrical standpoint)
mother tongue. I dig both but I think this one is just put together better and a lot cleaner. heavy metal. Wonderful life is fine but heavy metal’s chorus is too good.
