Jesus Christ this is incredible. She's gotten better with every album, but Lenderman's guitar was the exact last missing puzzle piece for her to make a full-on classic.
He’s the guitarist in the band Wednesday if you know them. He put out an album called Boat Songs in 2022 that was awesome.
My claim to fame is that I was at the first stop on MJs first ever solo headlining tour. He’d only played shows here and there in the southeast or as an opener before (besides Wednesday ofc)
I catch your poison arrow I catch your same diseeeease Bow like a weeping willow Buckling at the kneeeees BEGGING YOU PLEEEEASE
this is Bonny Doon erasure and I will not stand for it I do love everything MJ adds here though, the guitars are great but for me it’s how well their voices work together that really puts it over the top. Way too early for me to say I like one or the other better between Saint Cloud and this, they’re both great and feel mostly on the same level to me
Named after a city you ain't never seen Spellbinding copperheads banging a tambourine And it's the kiss of death, but it's the only way out Galloped up to the mirror, looked her right in the mouth LOVE this verse
They did a great job! This is just another level for me. Brian Jones was a great guitarist, but the Stones didn't reach their highest height until they got Mick Taylor. It's unexplainable alchemy.
Still obsessed with this but 3 Sisters vocal melody never leaves my head. Kept me up until 4am this morning reverberating around my skull.
didn't love this on first listen (like an IDIOT) but i've literally listened to it exclusively on my commute this week. can't stop.
anyone who likes this album should make sure to check out the new hurray for the riff raff album. it’s excellent, it was also produced by brad cook, and it definitely lives in a similar sonic world to the last two wax records. at the very least listen to hawkmoon which, until this dropped, was my frontrunner for song of the year
