ummm maybe the tour of the 2020s? Unbelievable show. 2 of the current best going at the absolute top of their game and taken another tier higher by what the other brings to the table. I have underrated mj a bit, but I get the top tier talent hype a little more now. Kind of begs the question why we don’t get more shows/tours like this where you’re getting something live that doesn’t really exist on record. Yes I know MJ is all over Tigers Blood but to see them not only explore their existing catalogs but bring in new songs and go deep on covers as well, all in a stripped down 4 piece setting really elevated the set beyond just being a recreation of the album.
I don’t want to overhype but if you like them both it’s a really fantastic show. One or two songs they didn’t play that I thought would have been perfect fits for the setlist but really not a single nitpick beyond that.
My original tickets were in the 2nd last row of the balcony, just saw a $20 all-in ticket for a good spot on the floor, took that upgrade in a heartbeat haha. thanks, Sabres playoffs !
Fantastic show indeed! though my two notes are 1. I can’t believe MJ doesn’t play She’s Leaving You 2. not a big deal but I expected a little bit of banter between them ; they said almost nothing the entire show
Saint Cloud is the one I really wish they had done. The band version during the album tour was cool and kind of fast but something slow like the record would have sounded absolutely beautiful with this lineup. And I’ll continue to stan for the lorelei cover which could easily be a signature mj song for years to come if he wanted it to be.
What were set times like? Something like below? 7:30 - opener 8:15 - one of them 9:15 - the other one
‘‘twas divine. felt like I was in their living room watching them jam. They both sounded spectacular.
