not comfortable calling this her best yet but I am super impressed how seamlessly she pulled off this style

  2. haven't listened to any of her previous stuff... guessing it's not in this vein? where should i start?

I would go backwards starting with her last one out in the storm. It’s a lot more alt rock / pop rock

Since I've been listening to this non-stop since it came out and am in danger of burning it out, I should probably listen to something else for a change.

Anyone got any recommendations of similar records to this? I'm sat working from home and it's just a perfect soundtrack.

Not quite the same but an extremely underrated Americana record from last year

Cerulean Salt is the record that sounds most like this imo. I kind of think of it as a country grunge record.

Unsure if this is my favorite of hers yet - Cerulean Salt was a top record of the 10s for me.

I’ll second the Neko Case rec. Also Jenny Lewis last few albums, Julia Jacklin’s album that came out last year, Kathleen Edwards, and Tift Merrit.

edit: The Case/Lang/Veirs album is a good one too.

  12. She and Whitmer Thomas are the guests on Talkhouse today!

Bonny Doon is the backing band on this, and i enjoyed their most recent album! Similar laid-back Americana vibe
