Very politely disagree with that RIYL, especially for this album. (Although I cant do any better.)

RIYL a scratchy voiced female singing Americana that will gut you with lyrics like:

    And when the picture fades,
The years will make us calm.
I'll sing a song at your funeral,
    Laid in the Mississippi gulf
Or back home at Waxahatchee creek.
You know you got a friend in me.
I'm an angler married to the sea.

  8. Curious why you’d disagree? I have a really hard time believing someone that likes any of those artists would not also probably like this

I love all of those artists but this iteration of Waxahatchee sounds very little like any of them.

Maybe Laura Stevenson but this is way more Americana than any of them imo

  12. Huh. "Very little" feels like a pretty huge stretch, and imo a RIYL doesn't really need to be 1:1 anyhow. But agree to disagree!

Waxahatchee - Saint Cloud [LP - Apple Red SEASICK EXCLUSIVE] delayed by the virus but nbd. wasn't feeling the black for this one

the title track might be one of the most beautiful songs i've heard in a long, long time.

and i mean this in a non-offensive way to the song and not as a dig, but i could EASILY see the title track being played over scenes or hardship / distress in TV shows. maybe because i watched a few episodes of it lately but i could totally see the song being played over a frantic Grey's Anatomy scene when someone significant dies, or when a favorite character leaves a show or things along those lines.

I just don’t see this record getting beat out by many for years end honors. It would really take something special. It strikes that perfect blanance. It’s going to be adored by zines and blogs and major pubs alike. It’s universal. It’s almost impossible to not like....very special.
