Hi does anyone want my tickets to see Waxahatchee + Madi Diaz in Philly tonight? My wife and I got sick last minute and can't attend.
I came here to say how good last night's Philly show was, so my apologies for rubbing it in, but it was great! One of the best shows I've been to in years.
We went! Felt better on Monday, ate the cost of the Sunday tickets and bought tickets to Monday anyway. ("Lilacs" was our wedding first dance, had to do it.) Agreed on how great the show was -- especially liked how she Saint Cloud-ed some of her older stuff like "Recite Remorse". Madi Diaz was an absolutely fantastic opener as well.
My Waxahatchee show last summer remains maybe the best concert I’ve seen post lockdown, really affected me in a way most shows do not
Seeing them tonight in Morgantown, fully expecting the "coming down to earth" performance typical of anyone going from a huge two night stay to a small WV club lol
For what it’s worth I saw her at a hastily assembled stage in the parking lot of a brewery in Rock Island, IL and it was unbelievable
I caught the Pitchfork set in September and the Grand Rapids show back in February and both were ridiculously good. She’s really in her prime right now.
Twist! Yes, the uptempo-er "Recite Remorse" was awesome and Madi Diaz was great too. I bought her newest LP after the show.
Katie is the guest on Las Culturistas this week (podcast with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers). halfway through but the interview is very good so far
She’s putting out an album with Jess Williamson under the name Plains Plains - I Walked With You a Ways (October 14, 2022) • forum.chorus.fm
I think I ended up choosing Punisher as my 2020 AOTY instead at the time but a few years out from this record it’s pretty clearly my favorite one anyone’s put out so far this decade
I first listened to it in December 2020 so I was too late to the party to have it really impact my list (Oxbow was an instant top 10 song for me but the album took a bit to click). But I'm pretty close to with you here, I'm not sure I'd go #1 overall but it's easily one of the best records of the last few years.
