Listened to Cerulean Salt the other day and I was surprised. Always had it ranked as my favorite, but after a couple of weeks with this new one, I'm pretty sure Saint Cloud is absolutely her best. I dig the grunginess of her early stuff but the sad-gal-Americana vibes on this one are
I've only listened to Cerulean Salt, Out In The Storm, and this. And the Great Thunder ep This one is perfect. The songwriting is so great, the overall sound... Might be my favorite so far this year
she's one of the best of last decade and if this is any indication, she'll be one of the best of the 20s too
Great Thunder EP is underrated. It’s stacked with really good songs. Saint Cloud is her best. But all of her records are very very good.
So far, I've listened to LW's Car Wheels on a Gravel Road and her self-titled. I also enjoyed the Faye Webster rec. Couldn't get into Laura Stevenson as much or Robert Earl Keen, tbh. I've still got a lot to check out, but any other recs in this specific vein? (I also really love Cassino, which I think lots of people in here would adore their recent album Yellowhammer)
Mary Gauthier - Mercy Now Gillian Welch - Time (The Relevator) Lily Hiat - Walking Proof Lydia Loveless - Somewhere Else Kathleen Edwards - Failer
Can i recommend a specific Robert Earl Keen song? “Feeling Good Again” my favorite getting the old gang back together again song. and of course “The Road Goes On Forever” I prefer the live versions on BEST for both
I started a thread recommending a new album from a new act called Deau Eyes but got zero replies so looks like I fired that one into the void! It does feel similar to Waxahatchee though but with obvious Lucy Dacus comparisons as some of her band worked on this album too. Deau Eyes - Let It Leave (May 8, 2020) • forum.chorus.fm
Yeah this is definitely my favorite album of hers at this point, overtaking Cerulean Salt. Probably my second-favorite album to come out so far this year as well, keeps getting better and better.
Currently it's this, Jason Isbell, and Soccer Mommy for me. I also rated Mac Miller and Spanish Love Songs pretty highly, but I need to spend more time with those.
Still think this has the best closer I’ve heard yet this year (over 450 albums yahoo!) but the entire album doesn’t quite do it for me
Maybe you would like more than one song on this record if you slowed your pace but whatever, you do you
