The catholic church also abuse their power to ruin lives and destroy people so I suppose that is a good comparison Equating Muslims to cops is still a strawman argument. If you wanna talk governments I'm game, but that's wildly different to what that poster said.
I'm pretty sure there is overlap between Trump supporters and those who overwhelming defend the cops against all evidence. I think they're called white people. Don't have the scientific term.
People who try to enforce their beliefs unto others, like this guy, frighten me more than Trump ever will. Yikes.
I hope you can understand that just because someone doesn't believe they're a bigot doesn't necessarily make that the case. At this point, these issues are so important and problematic that simply ignoring or being indifferent to them is directly contributing to the problem. The fact that someone can possibly declare Trump "the lesser of two evils" or think that supporting him does no harm to anyone is exactly why these issues are such a problem in the first place. Not caring that others are facing discrimination IS bigotry.
Yeah, Trump wants to get rid of eleven million people. That is way less frightening than someone asking a person not to come to their concert because they're racist, because, of course, racism is just a belief and we are all entitled to them or some such bullshit.
well, isn't the goal of a presidential campaign to convince people that their beliefs and plans for this county are for the best? It's not "enforcing" anything, he just asked them not to come see his rock band perform.
As I expressed, it's a valid comparison to ONE specific degree. But, like you said, they are such wildly different issues they don't make for a particularly USEFUL comparison. But hey, even though you and I haven't seen eye-to-eye on everything in this thread, I appreciate you staying civil. Do you think there are any governments that could be used as a useful comparison to our policing system?
It's weird how hypocritical people can be "People should be allowed to say anything, ezcept the people who call me out on saying horrible things." The anti PC crowd doesn't want freedom of speech, they want freedom from criticism and consequences.
I love responses like this. So much thought and effort put into this rebuttal. Yes, I'm more frightened of the common man running rampant in the street taking out others who don't share their political viewpoint. Who knows what people are capable of nowadays.
That's because nothing Trump says or proposes personally harms your way of life. It does for millions of others. You're either too ignorant to realize that or too selfish to care.
Wavves as a private business is well within its right to discriminate against whomever it wishes, so long as that discrimination is not against a protected classification under the 14th amendment. There are no laws requiring them to do business with anyone. For more reading on the issue of discriminating against customers, please see generally the Wikipedia article on the equal protection clause (on mobile or I would provide a link). But there are less than 150 posts on this thread as of this comment, and the discussion has devolved into name calling and personal attacks on both sides. Please, take an introspective moment to remember that you are in fact talking to another person who has emotions as valid as your own- whether you disagree with those emotions or not. I believe there is a common refrain the be repeated here about not invalidating someone else's experience. Good day everyone.
