i think the amount of hate is exaggerated. dude is one of the most well-thought of people in the medium haha.
I read Watchmen a decade ago and haven’t seen the movie since it came out. Do I need to do my own refresher or do they speenrun the OG source during this?
Yeah exactly the same situation for me, and I still loved this first episode. Doesn't hurt to just get a refresher of the ending of the book because it really relies heavily on it, but you should really be fine
Might re read this one tomorrow while I'm home alone for the night. I have the book still lying around my place and it's been tempting :P
Jesus that was fantastic. I’m in the same boat as a few of you. Haven’t read the book in a while. But it didn’t lessen my enjoyment of that.
the ending of the book on paper makes no fucking sense but i love it each time i read it. fuck the movie ending, even if it makes more sense
Speaking of which, I finally finished reading all of the articles in the first group and there are some really interesting details in there that make a lot of sense when you think about things that have happened in the first two episodes. In the Veidt obituary, for example, it mentions how Veidt lost a lot of notoriety/money when, due to his own shadow campaign to convince people Manhattan was radioactive/harmful to humans, car companies stopped making electric cars powered by lithium batteries and thus demand for his "spark hydrant" charging stations plummeted. He eventually bounced back, however, in part due to "licensing proprietary technology to other fields, most notably, pet cloning, through a subsidiary named after his famed lynx, Bubastis." Anyway, I don't think those servants are androids, I think they're actual human clones that Veidt is actually killing every time he puts on that play about Manhattan. Coolcoolcoolcoolcool.
