I managed to walk 8 1/2 miles today and that layout kind of sucks, it’s just sprawling and huge. Felt like they oversold things, but it’s apparently the largest single day of Warped ever with 80K sold. I’ve never seen VIP even reach capacity before, so that’s a new one. With 9 stages, there were a lot of bands playing to pretty small crowds on the side stages. Cartel was relegated to a small one and put on a hell of a show (and gave away a Labubu). Special guests today included April & Phil Margera introducing CKY and Vic Fuentes doing a surprise set at the acoustic stage.
Cartel was one of my favorite sets of the day. They killed it, and still had a decent crowd despite being on a tiny nowhere stage at 8:40pm and playing against both AAR and Silverstein.
I didn’t have high hopes for their crowd at first with them after Sunami and everyone clearing out when they finished up, but it filled up pretty nicely. I’m glad I watched them over some of the others they were up against (3OH3 looked like they had a big crowd too). Tomorrow’s lineup apparently leaked - some of those side stages are going to be empty looking at the competition.
I would take that schedule with a grain of salt as some Saturday bands are correct but others way off
Sublime was the one I saw that wasn’t even close. I saw Warped had posted the Sunday stream schedule for Channel 2 and it mostly lines up (on the stream delay) but we shall see. I’m curious to see if it empties out a little with people heading to MCR night 2.
lately i've been digitally scanning some old photos, including a few from the 2005-2006 warped tours in phoenix, AZ. here's a few if it's alright to share.
It has annoyed me so much that “Quiet Things…” is on the between-bands playlist. I saw someone wearing an Anti-Flag shirt this morning.
I don’t know if I was just in a shit mood yesterday or not, but today has been a lot more fun for me personally.
Agreed. I saw them last year on the AHYDD 20th anniversary tour and their sound was lacking I understand wanting to honor Chris’s spot in the band. But like, you could just continue with a touring guitarist that isn’t an official member
My thoughts exactly. No need to add an official member in any capacity, just stick someone in the back like so many bands do live
