Yeah if I were attending I’d basically just stay at the main stages and only leave for Drain and Streetlight. Then I’d dip after Sublime. Would be a solid day for me
I feel like such an arrogant dick for still loving this but I remember at Warped Tour 2003 the MA date was toward the end of the summer. So the Ataris were all over MTV and multiple radio formats at the time with "Boys of Summer" and they played at like 1pm on the main stage (after the Starting Line, Face to Face, and Mad Caddies). A bunch of people I worked with went just to see them and were drinking in the parking lot while all of this was happening because they assumed they were headlining. They were real bummed when they got in at like 5pm. LOL Getting there early and making sure I had a pen and paper to write the schedule down was always part of the fun. Cool to see they brought the same energy this time around.
Are they doing the Riot Fest thing where there's a few minutes between bands at each stage pairing? But instead of 5 minutes, it's 3 minutes? That's what I was gleaning from it but it's hard to tell. Haha.
Just did something I never thought I'd do: Purchased a t-shirt from a band because I saw how fun they were live on a livestream. I've been a Drain fan for a few years, never been able to catch them live but this set pushed me over the edge... I'm a fucking nerd. LOL
Ended up having to bail on the trip, but catching the livestream. Streetlight's bassist sounds killer. I mean I know he's good, but I feel like usually the mix doesn’t do him justice. This stream does not have that issue.
Sublime w/ Jakob sounds absolutely great! Watching the livestream right now, and it's to believe that what I'm hearing isn't Bradley... #Goosebumps
Seeing Phineas and Ferb ads on giant video screens behind the main stage at Warped Tour is so surreal
I was thinking the same thing. I couldn’t tell if it was the mix or his voice, but their whole band sounds super quiet and he’s struggling.
Watching the stream, All Time Low went on after 10pm, but it's still daylight out there? What is going on? Edit: Ah, they were all delayed and streamed separately I guess. Looks like they played at 7:33, streamed at 10:05.
Got to see: Chiodos - Craig did not lip sync from what I could tell. Great way to start off the day. 3oh!3 - the crowd was the biggest I’d seen all day today for them. They are infectious and definitely a very “Warped Tour” Warped Tour band. Senses Fail - Buddy started out not great, and I sadly was only able to catch the beginning of the set before having to run to Sublime. Their set looked killer though and I’ll always continue to see them. Their energy is always peak. Sublime - Talk about such a surreal moment. So incredible to see this band live and they did a great job. Feel Like That has both Jakob and his dad on vocals so it was such a full circle moment in a way. Cartel - Flawless. No notes. Pretty on par from what I’ve experienced with them. All Time Low - Actually not a big fan of them but they were INFECTIOUS. I also ended up knowing a lot more songs than I thought I did and their stage was great. MGK - Low key was an unexpected good time. Knew a lot of songs that I had forgotten about and that first pop punk album is actually decent. People shit on him, and maybe rightfully so (no idea if he’s actually a good guy or what), but enjoyed the 2/3rds of the set that I saw. Only downside was Forget Me Too was played with Halsey’s track in the background. Could’ve been a good opportunity to bring out a female guest artist. Great Day 1, but my legs and body are not ready for this again tomorrow.
I really wish they would let us re-watch the sets from today. Means I'm probably gonna miss a bunch of really fun ones tomorrow due to family shit. Hopefully folks do some recording hah.
This channel is what I was using to rewatch earlier sets that was restreaming from Twitch. They had both the warped tour channel stream and amazon music stream, but I could only find the amazon music channel stream now
Caught Gideon, Rain City Drive, Drain (incredible energy), Hidden in Plain View (nostalgic/wonderful to see in person), State Champs, From Ashes to New, Senses Fail (loved Buddy’s energy, but the band had a rough set), Cartel, Koyo, and finally Scary Kids Scaring kids. About to stretch and go for a run in prep for day 2!
I caught Origami Angel, Scowl, Drain, Mayday Parade, Letlive, IATA, 3OH!3, Big Ass Truck, Senses Fail, Cartel, Silly Goose, and The Maine. I never went to an original Warped, so it was cool to see and experience all the cross pollination of bands. Yesterday was good to check out some of the side quests and tents too, today might be more packed music-wise. RFK was well-equipped for all the people, traffic, and stages, makes me want more stuff to use the grounds. Found healthy-ish food options that kept me alive, but bathrooms got a little testy towards the end of the day. Will be there in a baby blue Queen of Jeans shirt that will change color I imagine.
