I’m betting BR and The Aquabats get added after that punk fest in OC happens next month. And that Sublime get added after they headline Beach Life in May
Long Beach new additions that I can see: Blackbear, Four Year Strong, The All American Rejects, Gogol Bordello, Ice-T, Body Count, Kenny Hoopla, Jxdn, Landon Barker, Mom Jeans, Mariachi El Bronx, Slaughter To Prevail, Stray From The Path, The Wonder Years, Yung Gravy, Zulu. I'm sure I missed a few. Lots of blurred names still, I assume we get Sublime, Aquabats, Goldfinger in the next few weeks.
There's 11 bands on the Long Beach poster who I would see, most of which I have already seen before. I think if it was closer to $100 I would have been content, but the actual ticket price doesn't match up for me personally
Given that every show had the same budget and how small DC's lineup is compared to Long Beach, I don't even want to think about how much they're paying Avril and MGK.
Tbh 45 plus bands a day seems plenty anyway I’m not sure why they even bothered going so many at the other two dates
Definitely the other half of that; I wonder how little they're paying some of the smaller acts. I imagine a lot of them are going to make their money on merch sales.
In the end, the lineup is solid... nothing incredible but definitely not as bad as I thought. The announcement structure ended up being weird and probably causing a lot of pessimism. Bands that I will try to see/want to see in LB: ADTR, Atmosphere, Blackbear, Bowling for Soup, Bryce Vine, Cartel, Chiodos, Four Year Strong, Hawthorne Heights, Honey Revenge, Hot Milk, Iann Dior, Mom Jeans, Saosin, Silverstein, State Champs, AAR, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Wonder Years, and We the Kings. Some others that I'd try to see too on that list but those are the primaries. Hopefully still a couple more that I will want to see as there are still 15 names blurred out for LB.
I feel like the standard for a festival, especially ones that are lower cost (relatively speaking), shouldn't be such that you're disappointed if you like a band in the lineup but you have seen them before. How many bands do you really like that you haven't seen before? Especially people like us in this forum who attend a lot of concerts
Just remembered that Goldfinger is playing at the House Of Blues in Anaheim on Friday. So I say it’s likely they’ll be added after that show
Yeah I never get those comments or the “they all tour still” comment. I think of it more of seeing so many in one weekend
Gogol Bordello isn't particularly surprising to me. They're a great example of a band that really started to get hype because of Warped Tour. They did the tour in '04 and '05. People were talking about them and their live show a lot back in the day. Their performances on that tour got a lot of attention from people and helped to bolster them to the next level they'd eventually reach.
Yeah that's not what I am saying. I didn't say "because I have seen them I don't want to again," I would see them all again, and have seen most many times. I was just pointing it out as an aside
I first heard of them on the CD for one of those years and immediately had to catch their set. Can't wait to see a bunch of people singing "Start Wearing Purple" again.
I've seen them so many times over the years. And they are always amazing. But the absolute wildest time I've seen them was at Riot Fest in 2022 when they stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Bauhaus. Something about the energy brought that night was epic. And for some reason they went over their allotted time by like, 10 minutes. That band has grown into an absolute force at festivals.
The rollout for this last day definitely feels odd to me. There are a lot of bigger names, including some that don't tour much, being announced with little ceremony. Maybe they'll do some more posts highlighting acts later, but bands like AAR, Ice T, Streetlight Manifesto, The Wonder Years (though they still tour plenty) are more marquee acts you'd think they'd want to put in the spotlight. But at the same time the dates are sold out, so maybe they just don't really care too much.
Haha yeah I agree. I dont fully understand the rhyme or reason to what bands got announced solo and then at the end
At least in TWY's case, I assume it's because they have their acoustic tour playing Baltimore and Tampa and didn't want to take away from their sales there (from what I know, that tour has sold really well in most markets).
