I had to bail after Thrice. The heat was way too much and that humidity this morning destroyed me. I saw all of my “must see” bands at least. Sat through Waterparks while waiting for TSL, and I just thought they were kinda there? Like every song just sounded the same to me lol
I wanted to stay for The Ataris and The Used but I tapped out after catching a few songs of Motion City. I saw most of my wants and I’m okay missing bands that’ll keep touring. Waterparks struck me as angry middle schooler music. I know people said the same stuff about the bands I liked 20 years ago but it all sounds the same and Awsten’s obnoxious.
Angry middle schooler music is the perfect way to describe them lol. There were a few bands that I’d have liked to see, but all of them tour fairly regularly so it’s not like I haven’t or won’t have a chance to see them.
Honestly, big ups to Citizen and Story of the Year for basically being like “thanks for coming out but we’re gonna play the new stuff”
Yeah exactly. Not even a band I follow anymore but gotta respect the move Citizen’s record doesn’t come out for two more weeks and it took up like half of their set. They played more songs from it than are even currently available to stream
Third Eye Blind playing Ocean Avenue with Ryan standing side stage. That’s cool haha. Oh now they’re playing it with him. Funnnn!
Not sure if sarcasm but Ryan pulled in ear monitors from his pocket and put them to play so definitely was planned but they did a good job making it seem not.
3EB sounded great, Silverstein are such a “professional” band at this point of their career. Fans eating out of the palm of their hand tonight
Oh yeah, no I very much meant the very start of the interaction haha. When he finally asked him to come out and play it was like oh okay this was planned
Still don’t understand how people are so into their show. I watched the first half and thought he didn’t sound good and also he’s boring as hell live. And every time he opens his mouth just dumb comes out.
We ended up getting there about 5 minutes before TSL started. I didn't have to murder my friends. They fucked up putting The Paradox on a small stage, we only kinda wanted to see them but the crowd went over the hill so we just bailed. Good time, but the heat was insane.
Buzzer beater attendance to your favorite band is the most Warped thing. Congrats on the rite of passage experience lol. From the clips I saw they sounded amazing.
lol I've been to like 10 Warped Tours, not the first time it's happened, before I was at least in the venue though and not at my house stewing while I wait for people to get there so we can leave. The only time I've see TSL was 25 years ago at Warped and I've missed them each time they were in town since for various reasons. They sounded great. Going later yesterday was the nice though, I don't think we could've lasted the whole day again. Cucumber Agua Frescas were a lifesaver. Will probably just catch the live stream next year though.
Am I just losing my memory or were the mid-2000s Warped Tours main stages less huge/packed? I remember being able to easily just walk around and see who I wanted to see and I remember being somewhat close to the stages without a struggle. But watching the live stream of the main stages made the crowds for the main stages seem massive and like I’d have had to be way way way way back to maintain the chill/non-rushing vibe I remember having at those mid-2000s Warped Tours.
you’re not crazy. Warped used to draw around 10k per city on its more popular years and was getting down to around 6k on average before they closed up. for context, Long Beach was probably around 75,000 this is closer to a multi-city WWWY than the Warped tour that you recall attending
