Just watched some of Yellowcard’s set from last night. They sounded great and their stage production looks awesome. While I’m sure it’s not intentional at all, it is very funny that their live drummer looks like he is cosplaying Travis Barker
Back after Day 2. The Wonder Years were great as always, ABR was solid, Julia Wolf was fantastic. Also caught a bit of Honey Revenge and hope to see them with Spiritbox and Periphery next month.
Came out of mosh retirement on day 2 for wonder years, chiodos, drain, and streetlight. My body took a beating, but it was so worth it.
I went to DC Warped and all four years of WWWY. Funny enough, I didn’t feel like one trumped over the other by that much. They are similarly set up/ran and I’ve had a great time at both. WWWY - Higher profile lineup (as a result of higher ticket price). VIP viewing section at all stages where Warped was only 3 of the 6 stages. WARPED - Merch tents for every band spread throughout the venue making it easier to shop. More entertainment like the skate ramps/motocross. Meet & Greets at the merch tents like the old days. BOTH - plenty of food/drink and bathroom options. Long days with big crowds and a lot of walking.
IMO warped has made the transition from traveling punk rock circus to modern 2025 festival without losing any of its ethos. WWWY is way more of a cash in on the nostalgia hype going on. I would imagine as an attendee watching sets its pretty similar. I am a warped Stan through and through. It’s still very much Kevin’s vision and his ability to adapt to culture, the scene, and the financial circumstances of people is second to none. Also can’t speak to the behind the scenes but bands seem genuinely grateful to be back at warped and shocked that WWWY is real and happy to collect a check as long as it stays financially viable for the promoters folks running the fest.
I haven't attended Warped Tour but looking over the line-up it feels like what Warped Tour would look like in 2025 if it were a traveling festival. It's a pretty strong mix of newer/younger artists and legacy acts... with no clear headliner. For my tastes, I would prefer if they leaned just a bit more into the 90s punk/ska of it all or had some more unique gets but that's purely a personal thing. And I would happily have attended any of these line-ups if it were within my vicinity In contrast to WWYF though, I dunno. It just feels like apples/oranges. Warped Tour was never about the headliners or major gets. What I find interesting is that it seemingly adapted its old ethos into the newer model. Which is also what Warped was always about... And the style of music always changed. Which is pretty relevant as well. Warped Tour '96-'98 looked very different than Warped Tour '99-'02 which led to another era, etc. The "bigger" artists on the bill always changed.
Had a meet & greet with Story of the year today and they confirmed they are on DC and Long Beach dates next year
I can’t stand any of the bands this dude works for but I will always watch his videos from beginning to end.
they still can’t get a serious midwest date it seems… cool for Montreal and Mexico City, though. i’m sure there’s plenty of people in those areas who will be able to see a ton of these artists for the first time so i can’t be mad about it.
Anyone recall how fast these shows sold out last year? Considering the Montreal date but like...August is far away.
Did anyone have any luck with resale? I purchased Orlando resale for $215 each back June (the price on the Warped website at that point was higher). By the time Warped happened for Orlando, the prices dipped significantly on the secondary market and I’m not sure if that was due to the Gov’t shutdown impacting flights, or if that is just the nature of this festival. If that’s a trend from all 3 dates, maybe it’s something to keep a closer eye on.
It seems they're moving to all wristbands next year from the wording on FGT, so that's something to think about with buying resale if you're not meeting up locally.
i think there’s still ways around this. Furnace Fest does a wrist band but they don’t give it out until they scan your ticket. Lollapalooza does a wrist band, and you can get it in the mail, but there’s def a booth you can go to for wrist band pickup as well- my friend did that in ‘24. not sure if it was a booth meant for specifically single day purchases, or if they factor in secondary market sales or what. i dunno, we’ll see how it all works out. but that could be a smart way to combat resale.
