Yeah, this weekend was sick, as long as there was just one or 2 acts id want to see I'd do it again.

I'd love for it to be somewhere "nicer" but AC is the only place where a beach festival could really work. There are tons of hotels that probably don't normally get filled even on summer weekends. Cant think of a single place on any coast where this would also be the case. I never did bamboozle but just the price, and lack of availability, of hotels in asbury park on your typical summer weekend makes me think it would be a nightmare. We joked all weekend about AC, but all the things we joked about allowed for a fest like this to actually work

His daughter works for Sixthman now, so hopefully that indicates more cruises!!! I agree so much with everyone on how sick of a location AC was. Being able to get in the water or go under the pier beats the fuck out of roasting in a parking lot contemplating whether it’s all worth it. Def still worth it,but sheesh it’s nice to not be completely miserable

I still can't stop thinking about how amazing this weekend was. I have a question that I'm curious for other's answers:
Where there any bands you checked out this weekend that you werent that into before/or never heard of before and you ended up loving there set?
For us, it was Deadly Apples. After seeing their name announced for Warped, I read up on them and listened to them a little here and there. From what I read, I was very curious about their live show. My wife and I decided to see them over Less than Jake because of how many times we've seen LTJ before. Deadly Apples live show and theatrics blew us away. They put on one of the most memorable sets of the weekend, and they were the only band we were able to see that we werent already big into... anyone have similar stories?

I saw Atmosphere while waiting for Good Charlotte. Never heard of them before but they were really good. Also I knew who Atreyu was but didn’t know any of their music and I ended up enjoying their set

I also heard the Doped up Dollies while sitting on the beach and they sounded pretty good. Never listened to them before that

I checked out Varials and loved them. None of my friends nor my girlfriend like heavy music so I never get to see heavy bands live.

I wasn’t expecting much from HIPV but thought they were awesome as well. Definitely my favorite band on Saturday

Warped AC was definitely a great time. Weather issues & crowd size/lack of movement space aside, I had an amazing time. The weather break Saturday actually worked out for me as it cooled down and the crowd dispersed a bit. Plus, I went to a casino and won $50 haha. Bad Religion killed it. LTJ and Anti-Flag were also big highlights foe me. I also thought that The Menzingers really showed up. Saw a few bands for the first time that really impressed as well--The Ones You Forgot & Keep Flying both kicked off the days nicely. And Andrew W.K. counting down from 93 for Party Hard was hysterical. Overall, a really well put together weekend!

Now that I've had a few days to soak in the weekend:

    Pros:
    - The evacuation was handled so smoothly and professionally. That hour break really helped me recharge. Almost with there was an hour break during day two as well LOL
    - Lots of options for food, which meant little to no lines.
    - Loved how the blackcraft and full sail stages were set up
    - The rotating main stage made time fly by - the 5 minute changeovers were so impressive.
    - The walkways. Thanks christ for those.

    Cons:
    - Accessibility issues aside, the lack of walkways made all of them always clog up, so moving around on stable ground was a pain, and moving in the sand was frustrating
    - The water lines on day 1 were absolutely ridiculous. Not much can be done about that I guess, but I saw quite a few people faint while waiting for water
    - Absolutely no shade, no places to sit besides for in the sand were frustrating. The amount of medical transports I witnessed (dehydration, exhaustion, heat-induced, etc.) was significantly more than I've ever seen at any warped tour / music festival in the past.
    - The sound bleed of the main stage into the monster stage area was distracting
    - The flies on the beach (specifically day two) kept biting my ankles LOL. Nothing can be done about that but did not plan for that.

    Best sets:
    - Valencia was my favorite set of the weekend. Not only was it amazing to see my favorite band back in action, but the backdrop of a post-storm sunset really reminded me why I love this damn festival. Shane had pneumonia and still powered through the set, which was impressive. I could tell he was very frustrated with the sound / mix, but I think the storm shorted out a lot of the equipment, because We The Kings were also plagued with technical issues.
    - The Aquabats were SO much fun. I've listened to them but I don't think I've ever seen them. I was on the other side waiting for We the Kings, but damn, watching that crowd go off and the band feed off of their energy and constantly interact with the fans gave me MAJOR FOMO.
    - Seeing A Day To Remember play to as massive of a crowd as they did, and having everyone going off the entire time, was just ridiculous.

Was disappointed by Man Overboard, The Story So Far, and Blink. Both Man O and Blink just sounded bad, and TSSF had no stage presence (all 3 of these instances were expected as usual, unfortunately, but wow, I thought a sea of 10K+ people losing their minds to TSSF would get Parker to move around, but it didn't).

Overall I had a great time. Something about watching your favorite bands with a background of twinkling casino lights on your right, the sand in your shoes, the ocean breeze, and the view of the sprawling Atlantic Ocean on your left was really fucking special.

The Story So Far has always been a live band whose enjoyment is purely dependent on the crowd reaction. There are times I've seen them where I don't even watch the band, I just watch the crowds go off to them. As long as they sound good, that's all that matters to me, tbh.

I’m legitimately surprised people thought TSSF sounded good. I used to LOVE them and thought they were good live in the past but I thought Parker sounded terrible especially compared to the album.

I don’t think I’d ever see them again

TSSF have always been a very boring live band, imo. No desire to ever see them again.

I can’t objectively rate their live performance cause I’m always losing my shit. I love their crowds so much

  16. sam_might_say

“Damn son, where’d you find this?”

I’ve only seen them twice. Both of those times at Warped (2014 and 2016), and both times they were were completely devoid of energy/stage presence, but the crowd was absolutely NUTS. I remember in 2014 when there must’ve been about 5 crowdsurfers flying through the crowd during each song

Again, 2011-2015 when they were playing 300-600 cap rooms were WILD.

Plus all the members seem to not really give a shit about their discography/pop punk/the scene in general, so that probably has something to do with the lack of stage presence. They always felt like they could break up at any second lol

  25. Did anyone here check out Quicksand? Curious how their crowd was because I assume not many people there would know who they are (which kinda bums me out)
