Should have specified. I flew in and I'm coming from Wicker Park. No car at my disposal unfortunately since I'm not 25 and cannot rent.
I honestly feel like a little kid before Christmas day. I'll be flying out to Chicago from Minneapolis at 7 tomorrow. Ready for a great day!
Today was bad. The venue sucked, the weather was awful, the staff was rude/wasn't prepared, the on-tour people were rude to me on several occasions for no good reason, specifically on one occasion where I was on my way backstage to see Silverstein (I had a VIP wristband because my friend who donated blood gave it to me), and the backstage area was already really full with bands/friends, so I was 5th in line to get on stage, and ended up getting cut off. It was disappointing, but not a huge issue. I started to turn around to leave, and either Silverstein's TM or the stage manager, not sure who, starts yelling at me to get back and starts physically shoving me down the ramp to leave, and it absolutely infuriated me. I was already starting to turn around to leave - it was absolutely unnecessary and left an awful taste in my mouth at the end of the day. It's shit like that that makes me glad Warped is ending. That, and I didn't see a set today that was SO good that it was worth justifying the $70 price tag, nor was there a repeat set that was better than they were in Cleveland. The Maine and Less Than Jake were the only two repeat bands I really enjoyed today. I watched a few new bands today - Sharptooth and Trash Boat were both really cool, but everything else was very underwhelming.
I thought the venue was decent security wise from what I saw and interacted. There was some things going on on the stage Silverstein was on throughout the day and most of the day they weren’t even allowing anyone but personal band friends who were walked up by members watch or be close to the stage whilst a set was being played.
Jw, is Simple Plan having someone join them every day for I'm Just a Kid? I know I saw Bowling For Soup joined them, Waterparks joined them on my data (VA Beach) and I saw State Champs joined them today.
It appears Chicago sold out late last night. I'm at the airport right now about to board, excited as heck. Hope all you Illinois folks also have a fun time today! If you see me feel free to say hi! (I'm the short kid with naturally black hair in a orange/black dye Beartooth shirt and khaki shorts.)
The amphitheater specifically was more of what I was referring to - they had everyone that was crowdsurfing walk all the way back up the stairs to return to the pit, which I thought was unnecessary, haha. And that does make me feel a little better about that. When I watched Senses Fail side stage earlier in the day I didn't have any issue watching side stage, but they were on White Lightning so I assumed Red Dawn would be the same deal. The pushing was what erked me more than anything - dude could have just said, "Sorry, we're full," and I would've left.
Security all day was awful. They were very clueless on how Warped tour works. Sorry you had a bad experience man, I had a great time except getting in.
thats usually how it works there parking opens anywhere from an hour and a half to 2 hours before doors
I'll be at Tinley today wearing a either a maroon lift a sail Yellowcard hoodie or a white A Better Hand shirt. Come say what up!
Hope everyone has an awesome time at the last couple weeks! Despite yesterday, Cleveland was so awesome and I'm super happy for all the good memories this week gave me.
Today's set times! And the bands I'll be seeing! 11:30 - Don Broco 12:00 - The Maine (conflict w/ Trash Boat) 12:50 - As It Is 1:30 - With Confidence (conflict w/ State Champs/Ice Nine Kills) 2:30 - Knuckle Puck 3:00 - Real Friends 3:30 - Sleep On It (conflict w/ Amity Affliction) 4:10 - Chase Atlantic (conflict w/ Movements) 5:15 - Senses Fail *rest* 6:50 - Broadside M&G's 2:15 - As It Is 5:00 - Chase Atlantic I have to catch a flight home at 9:10 so I'll be leaving before Beartooth/Waterparks, but it's still a solid day.
Go see the State Champs set. I love WithCon but their set this year is pretty much the exact same as it's been except for the new song.
They're playing Archers which is great, and they were the first band I saw at my first Warped so it's really a sentimental thing I guess
Apparently the Monster Stages have just been delayed 15 minutes in order to get the crowds in on time. Hopefully they don't do that the whole day.
