Also, I get Kevin wants to keep the chain of commamd of smaller bands moving up to bigger stages, but it still bums me out Movements does but not As It Is who've been growing a lot in America lately. A mainstage run on Warped along with a big album release would've boosted them to Waterparks levels of popularity.
I feel like some of you take too much stock in some of this stuff... I’m pretty sure that there are reasons for every decision made. The stages haven’t mattered for several years now. The heavy bands get put on Monster and everyone else is on Journeys, at most of the Venues monsters and journeys get the same amount of space. They just decided to put all the heavy bands together so people aren’t running around all day to all the stages. It’s really not much more than that.
11:30 - Tonight Alive 12:35 - Don Broco (Conflict with This Wild Life) 1:15 - Grayscale (Conflict w/ Mayday Parade) 2:00 - 3OH!3 2:30 - The Maine (Conflict w/ Trash Boat and Amity Affliction) 3:00 - State Champs (Conflict w/ Picturesque) 3:30 - Ice Nine Kills [4:00 - Chase Atlantic Meet/Greet] 4:30 - Four Year Strong 5:15 - With Confidence (Conflict w/ Knuckle Puck and Movements) 5:55 - As It Is 6:20 - RILEY 7:00 - Waterparks 7:30 - Real Friends 8:00 - Issues (conflict w/ Chase Atlantic) Probably the worst day of conflicts for me so far. State Champs/Picturesque and Issues/Chase Atlantic is just plain rude.
Senses Fail are on Monster for a reason they put bigger bands on there for a reason. So every dweeby kid doesn't sit at the main stage all day. Senses Fail are most likely getting a bigger payday playing monster than main. I'm pretty sure it happened to Bayside a few years ago where they took the bigger payday to draw people to a side stage. Senses Fail is bigger than half the bands on Main.
Lol this was posted a couple hours after their Vegas set, I guess I'll just show myself out the door... But realistically i can see where he's coming from. Aside from a few choice sets a lot of people weren't crowdsurfing that much or moshing much on the Journeys stages.
Also here's what my schedule today would have been: 1100 - In Hearts Wake 1155 - Doll Skin (or break) 1230 - This Wild Life 100 - Dayseeker 130 - Wage War 235 - Trash Boat 300 - State Champs 330 - Ice Nine Kills 400 - Bowling For Soup (or break) 430 - Four Year Strong (or break/get a good spot for KP) 500 - Knuckle Puck 530 - Movements 600 - Senses Fail 700 - Motionless in White 730 - Real Friends 800 - Every Time I Die Only conflicts are Real Friends v. Chelsea Grin, and Every Time I Die v. Issues.
I really wish they would of Owly 30 min knocked down some of those small bands down to full sail added another side stage next to owly with bands like Movements, This Wild Life, Tonight Alive, etc on it and then had bands like Beartooth, Less Then Jake, New Found Glory play most/all the dates but with the last year tanking and them not knowing how this year will sell I understand why they cut down the way they did.
It wasn’t Warped’s choice to make NFG, LTJ, and Beartooth to do partial dates. All three of those bands had prior summer touring commitments and could only play select dates
I know but they were on the Journeys Side-Stage in 2015 and have since been demoted to the smallest stage :/ Idk I'm pretty biased though cause I'm from Minneapolis (Patty's hometown) and they're my favorite pop-punk band.
A. It's the midwest, small bands don't draw much there, the Full Sail stage barely drew more than 50 people at a time at the MN date in 2016. B. By being on the mainstage they'll be conflicting with less bands and drawing more casual fans by nature.
I know you like the band and I can respect that but man you are reaching a bit....it’s the Midwest small bands don’t draw there? Cmon man, It’s really not that big of a deal. Coming from someone who doesn’t necessarily care for either band I have heard Movements mentioned wayyyyy more in the past year and a half than As it is.
Honestly for Holmdel my biggest fear is Waterparks playing in between two bands I really want to seethes forcing me to sit through 30 minutes of that garbage. Example: 1:30 - Knuckle Puck on Left Foot 2:00 - Waterparks on Right Foot 2:30 - State Champs on Left Foot
There have to be bigger artists on the Monster stages too. Bands like Every Time I Die, Senses Fail, Motionless in White help bring in the crowds so bands like Sharptooth and Dayseeker can get some exposure. Plus SF is doing better on this stage this year because there are a lot of throwback acts on the Journey’s stages - people coming out to see The Used, Simple Plan, etc are also going to watch Senses Fail, along with the core fans that are coming strictly to see them.
You can't really see/hear the Right foot band very well if you're in the pit for the Left though, so in this example I'd just push through to the front as KP's crowd is leaving and boom, problem solved. (That being said, Waterpark's debut album was a lyrical and musical masterpiece and idk how someone into this style of music could totally hate them)
If it were my day 12:00 reel big fish 12:35 don broco 1:30 wage war 2:00 hail the sun 2:35 trash boat (conflict with the amity affliction) 3:00 harms way (conflict with state champs) 3:30 simple plan (once nine kills conflict) 4-5 break 5:00 unearth 5:30 movements 6:00 senses fail (the used major conflict) 6:30-7:15 break or leave early 7:15 phinehas Pretty annoying conflict day.
