I’d agree to forcing someone to buy merch the same thing. A band is forcing someone to give them money in exchange for meeting them, regardless if they get a shirt, CD, vinyl, etc. As well. If it’s a skip the line perk then I’m fine with it. You’re not forced to do it but you may in order to expedite your wait time.
Last summer when I met Neck Deep they did it through MusiCares and you had to give a $10 donation to get a wristband for the signing
The only band I remember straight-up making you pay for a meet and greet wristband was Pierce the Veil in 2015. There are a lot of bands that I've seen make buying merch (shirt/CD/etc) as a requirement for one though, which is ~kind of~ the same thing?
2007 you had to buy a piece of merch for All Time Low's signing if I remember right. I'm also showing my age with that comment
Has anyone else caught Ice Nine Kills so far this summer? I know Ricky from This or The Apocalypse is now doing guitar and some backing vocals and he seems to be taking over some of JD's parts. People can have their opinions but I personally think he's not doing nearly as good of job as the absolute beast that is JD. Feel free to discuss!
I'm still hoping Scranton gets a surprise set. At least one date so far has had 10 bands on each main stage. Scranton still has 9 on each.
I’m tellin ya, Senses Fail should’ve been Journeys stage this year. They have the crowd for it Not yet. Buddy from SF posted about it on Twitter
I love Movements but I definitely don't think they should've been on main stage this year, like you said they didn't get THAT big since last summer. They would've been fine on the owly stage
Putting them on the Journey’s stage will help with exposure, but I still think that was a weird move I could argue that they had a big crowd at the Pomona date, but they’re from SoCal, so...
Getting big fast doesn't always correlate with big numbers, Pat even complained on Twitter that their crowds were dead.
As it is last headliner in the states halved movements last headliner in terms of attendance. It’s weird because they’re bigger on the internet and the uk
Senses Fail played Monster in 2015 and no one complained they shouldn’t have been there then. Yes there is renewed interest in them with the new album being successful but I mean you can’t blame Kevin for booking them and putting them on Monster before knowing how the album would perform.
Also up until this year I considered the Monster stages equally as big as the Journey's stages, just more heavy.
Yes this. Which is why I don’t call Journeys “main stages” because bands on Monster are just as big of draws if not bigger than some on Journeys.
Dead as in barely any people? Or dead as in the crowd displaying no energy?* If it’s the latter, then I’m not surprised... No offense to Movements, but their music (to me at least) isn’t really the most moshable *I guess you could say that their crowds haven’t been displaying a lot of MOVEMENTS hahahahaha okay goodbye everyone I’m sorry
Movements is 100% not a main stage band. Yes there's buzz about them, but even all of that buzz doesn't bring them up to the level of other main stage bands.
