I've listened to a couple podcasts with Kevin and if I'm not mistaken, he's implied that he would be passing it on to one of the production managers (can't remember her name but she's sort of the second in command)
This whole thing is brutal: Band that verbally abused crowd member at Warped Tour release statement, defend actions - News - Alternative Press
I'm glad we're getting more info on this. I've heard of The Dickies before but I've never seen/listened to them. Apparently they do something crazy at every show, whether it's pissing on their audience or wanting to give oral sex to them. Knowing this and knowing Kevin wanting to create a safer space, why would he book them?
Any suggestions what time to get to the Massachusetts date if I want to be one of the first in? I'm doing the canned food donation
I remember being into The Dickies when I was getting into Punk back in like 05-06. I like their older music and knew they incorporated shock value into their music, but didn't know how far they pushed the enveloped with stage banter and general interactions. They're just being just plain foolish at this point.
And now you got the scene asshole himself Ronnie Radke calling everyone a pussy. How is this guy not allowed back at warped tour yet?
Holy shit I didn't even see that when I first glanced at that statement. This dude is really fucking insane.
That's the thing that struck me the most. I expected him to take the pro-free speech/fuck the PC angle but there was no need to bring in the racial angle. From what I read, the lady protesting the Dickies was against the predatory remarks of the lead singer. Maybe there was something else to this? Obviously it's fucked up but I'm still curious why he went that angle.
There's so many things I'm confused about Ronnie's post. 1. I don't understand what he means by "pro-black" being a bad thing. 2. How many "femi-nazis" are also "Jesus freaks?" Most that I know by that definition aren't religious in the slightest. 3. In a reply, he said he was fine with what the Dickies did, and that it shouldn't have been a headline when by his accord, someone died two years ago and it didn't make headlines, when it did. Twice. In 2010 and in 2012. http://www.mtv.com/news/1689699/van...om/news/1689699/vans-warped-fan-dies-toronto/ Fan dies at Warped Tour in Kansas City
The dickies have the famous distinction of being the first live band I ever saw. I was 13..they opened for offspring. They had a puppet dick and talked to the crowd. There's a difference between stupid humor stuff like that and just like verbally assaulting someone like that...im not sure what the point of it is.
When I saw NOFX last year Fat Mike kind of did something similar. Definitely not as bad as that but you could tell the whole band and audience was upset about it. He ended up apologizing after and telling everyone how sorry he was and how big of a dick he felt like. He even jumped down into the crowd and apologized to the girls face and gave her a hug So I think there are definitely ways to fix things like that and stay "punk" blaming it on that being your routine is just stupid
That schedule today is crazy. I'm guessing they went with 25 minute sets because it's an 8-9 hour drive to Orlando from Atlanta. Probably trying to finish up the smaller stages early and get them packed up as soon as possible so they can leave immediately. Also the 7/4 date has been cancelled. I thought Wilmington, NC was an odd choice for a show anyway.
I also can't see Carousel Kings for sure now. July 4th was their last date. Having 2 cancellations this year is not a good look for the tour this year.
They were definitely still I'm the parking lot. Had one come up to our car while we were smoking before we went to stand in line. Super awkward haha
Haha! I can only imagine. They are already so awkward, I don't think the whole finding random strangers to talk to thing is really their niche.
