Warped Tour has a ton of female-fronted acts and they gave us eight white dudes. Nice work, AP. Cool to see Knocked Loose on there, even if it looks like he's trying to distance himself from Fronz in that photo lol
I'm curious which AP cover they'll send me in the mail. There seems to be no real pattern to which cover I get when there's multiple.
This cover just makes me eyeroll at I Prevail's success, there is literally so many different bands on this tour, female fronted or not & they put 2 dudes from the same band on a cover, just WOW. I guess like the comment prior says, money talks.
Update on the whole BAAO/Equal Vision thing. A friend just forwarded me the email that Equal Vision is forwarding to the street team volunteers each day. Apparently they are being told that they are to "prepare the venue by hanging up posters promoting Waterparks and Picturesque", not BAAO... the band they actually have on tour.
Cool to see Movements on the cover, but I can't believe AP keeps pushing acts like Attila and I Prevail. There are way more interesting bands on the tour.
Those 2 bands sell and they're headliners. I'm sure more fans of AP will buy a magazine with Fronz on the cover instead of someone on the Full Sail stage.
GWAR on the cover would have been awesome and I expect them to have the biggest crowd honestly. Lots of people who haven't went to Warped in a long time, if ever, are going just for them based off of stuff I've seen on social media.
I'm only kinda into I Prevail, but I really like that they made that type of Metalcore big again. I don't think a band of that kind has gotten so big so fast since A Day To Remember.
I Prevail basically bypassed the metalcore phase and jumped right into that hard rock/metalcore blend that bands like Of Mice and Men/WCAR are doing now. I saw them live a few years ago with Dangerkids and they were ok but they connected with a lot of scene kids and fans of hard rock.
I still don't see the I Prevail hype and how people allude to them as being huge. The last two tours in my area (Boston / NYC - MAJOR markets + Albany later on) hit 400-500 cap rooms, and only sold them out with a couple days to go until the show. I see a bunch of their posts go "viral" on Facebook though (very clickbait-y but I guess it works), but don't see anyone really talk about them. Am I missing something? lol
They're definitely massive. Their last show here (Stroudsburg PA) sold out over a week before the show. Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World, and Alter Bridge have all played the same venue recently and none of them sold their shows out. Most of my friends just listen to whatever is on the radio and haven't paid serious attention to any music scene in years and they're all about I Prevail at the moment. They aren't big in a music community like chorus, but they've crossed into the mainstream like few "scene" bands have in a while. Whether that success will be prolonged is another question, though.
Oh wow, assuming it was at the Sherman? If that's the case that's impressive because that venue isn't too small and it's also pretty far from any major market.
Yeah, it was The Sherman. I think Wage War opened so it's not like the support drew a vastly different crowd or anything. I was surprised when they sold it out.
I will never understand why I Prevail are so popular, they're not a good band and they put on a terrible live show.
Same. They sort of remind me of Issues with the whole pop/hard rock/metalcore sound going on. I'm not sure what happend with them but I remember everyone saying they were gonna be as huge as ADTR but it seems like their hype died down a lot and their last tour stop drew maybe 3/4 full (1000 cap) when everyone in the area expected it to sell out quick. I could just be talking out of my ass but it seems like everyone who was all about Issues forgot about them and are now all into I Prevail.
I'm pretty sure the only reason Issues died down is because, to my knowledge, a lot of people weren't too fond of their last record. Which is insane to me, because I think their last record was fantastic.
Also they've done 2 tours (Warped and that triple headliner with FIR and MIW) since the album came out. They're very out of the public eye
Any way I could see this email? Seems really weird since neither of those bands are on warped and are both opening for seperate tours.
