Jesus christ this thread is out of control. Go to Warped and support who you want to support. If you don't like a band, then don't give them the time of day. I don't give a fuck about Attila. But am I going to let one band who I dislike ruin the other bands I want to see? Hell no. This festival attracts the best and worst of people. It's always been that way, and i've only been going since 2012.
You personally not attaching a meaning to the c-word, n-word, or any other slur does not devalue the social conontation surrounding that word.
That's an incredibly simple and reductive way of looking at it and ignorant of history and how language has been used to discriminate and dehumanize groups of people. Like the n word, f-g, bitch, etc. These are not "names", these are slurs. 'Grab 'Em By The Pussy': Please Stop Saying Words Don't Matter | The Huffington Post
1. They're not a "satire" band, that's not what that word means. 2. The band hasn't been held accountable for their "negative messaging" (which, come on, let's just say what it is and stop the double speak: BIGOTRY) on the tour in the past. They've sold their awful merch at the shows. 1. Not really true, other members got away with things because what someone else in their band was doing worse things. 2. They've done some pretty shitty things since then.
The whole lineup was announced. There may be a few surprise appearances like years past. We also might see bands drop off and need to be replaced, etc.
You can’t continually repeat “it’s just a joke” every time you cause controversy, and that’s an unfortunate misunderstanding when your “humor” is so often based on repetition of hateful words and imagery. PewDiePie versus the media: Why he’s so mad to be losing the fight
Let us wait 25 years and all the words people are having a fit about will be thrown around like candy. Not like any words anyone here regularly uses were considered taboo in the past.
We're close to about 5 pages on talking about Attila. Do you know what that means? People who don't know Attila will come across this forum someday. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week. They'll see the controversy that they caused and get curious and look them up. Let's just use a random number of 4 people for example. 1 of them will go "wow that was awful" and move on with their day. 1 will like it and become a fan possibly. 2 will say "wow that was awful" and tell their friends about how awful this band is, thus repeating the cycle over and over again. I'll say it again: negative attention is attention nonetheless. It would have been easier to say "I don't like this band" and move on. You are helping the exact cause you are fighting against.
I don't feel like re-watching the stream to check, but is Never Shout Never playing old songs like they are for their tour? I feel like something was said about it on the stream but idk.
Throwback set is what it said, so I assume so. The stage lineup videos should be up on the YouTube channel as well.
If your argument is: "in 25 years objectifying and dehumanizing people won't be so bad so it's fine now" -- you're 1) not making a good argument, 2) might be right but also showing why some of us want to try and stop that slope from occurring in the first place.
"Random number". If I would have said something like "statistically 4 people will view this page a day and see this thread" then you would have a point. Whether my RANDOM number is correct or not there will at least some amount of people who will look at this thread someday, look them up, and either like them and/or spread the word about them.
You don't need to explain to me how you made something up out of thin air and then pretended it proved something it didn't, I got that the first time.
this discussion doesn't need my voice too but there is no good reason to ever support Atilla, financially or otherwise. Of course it's awesome that there are more women playing the tour than usual, but it's like, what's the point when Atilla and MMF and Neck Deep are still playing? Warped is gross, ya'll. Always will be, as long as Kevin's running the show and these shitty bands make money.
i love fire from the gods but why are they on the hard rock stage they stick out in a weird way like if it's meant for older bands lol it's them than like all older bands
