I was at Crown The Empire's Retrograde Tour concert in St. Louis yesterday and had the opportunity to talk with Ash Costello from New Years Day. When I asked her if they would do Warped again, she confirmed and said, "I got a phone call a couple of days ago and we're excited to return next year." New Years Day will do Warped 2017 and they will be on the main stage.
Hatebreed would 100 percent seal the deal for me on this year. Can I ask where you are getting your source from?
Hatebreed, Terror, and Knocked Loose would be the best trio of Hardcore bands Warped has landed in years.
That's seems underwhelming. Do they even headline? It seems like they're always opening for other bands.
I don't know, but if you think about it some of the bands who do main stage in the past years usually warm up for other bands too on later tours (i.e. Neck Deep, Real Friends, Four Year Strong, etc.) So I don't think that its uncommon for those bands, and if you exclude those bands who consider themselves "too big" for Warped, that dwindles the field.
I think they'd make sense as one of the lower tier main stage bands. Kind of like Tonight Alive was this year.
I mean, Pepper played Warped's main stage last year and they had maybe 100 people watch them at the NJ date. I'm sure NYD could get around 200 each date.
Fingers crossed on the tour coming back to Canada. Made the trip to NJ last year but I'd rather not have to do it again haha
Every year I panic that they'll skip Scranton, but they've come here the last 12 years straight so I don't know why I worry so much.
I hear you there but they do have a solid fanbase. Maybe not worthy of main stage but they'll have a decent crowd during their sets. When was the last time they did a headliner?
NYD might just get a main stage spot for how long they've been involved with the tour. Their first run was 2007.
Oh, to go back to before they hopped on the horror rock bandwagon and the old singer from Homegrown was in the band:
Shit, that was just last year and they played Santos in NYC (500 cap room). Not sure if that sold out or not but I wonder how many people left after Get Scared?
Crazy how things have changed! I think Adam is a pastor now. Their first album was really good. I don't care for their new sound.
album was great, a shame they got fucked over by TVT. always wonder what would happen if they signed to Decaydance then
They'll both be supporting new albums next summer for the first time in a few years. I wouldn't expect more than a week or two run if either does play. I'd think AFI is the more likely of the two just because their mid 00s success plays into Warped's current nostalgia market. NOFX might be a bit too old to appeal there anymore. They have a more diverse fanbase than people here give them credit for, though. So I'm not sure.
Good for New Year's Day. They aren't a band I really love or seek out, but I do admire them playing the tour for a few years, working their way up and building a fanbase. In 2013, I saw Ash play with Set It Off and I talked to her for a second while I was walking around. She was super nice.
