Guys just chill out: Whether or not something is offense highly depnds on perspective and impact. The fact is there are problematic parts of all of our culture and while I'm not defending that, I don't think fighting on an internet message board is gonna fix that. Atilla is a satire band, and while that doesn't justify their behaviour and I certainly wish they weren't on the tour, the LGBTQ and Women communities represent a HUGE part of the tour's atendees and I'm sure they will hold the band accountable if they continue negative messaging on tour. Also the members of Neck Deep that were involved on sexual assault cases have since left the band.
I didn't call you names and I didn't question your intelligence because clearly that argument was something that Attila has conveyed to you, not one that you formed yourself. That ARGUMENT is stupid. Re-read it and tell me that it's not.
I mean at the very least I like that people are passionate on this site. It's a more positive group than most music sites. I spend equal amounts of time here and the comment sections on Lambgoat, Punknews.org, and Metalsucks.net. Even I feel like I need a shower after reading some of the exchanges on there. Lots of good people too, but this place is an absolute paradise compared to that.
I'm terrible at math so I'm not gonna try to do the percentage. Every stage except monster it seems has bands with female members. (yes, I know gwar has female members in past but as I am not siure sure of there touring lineup now, I'm not countiing them) there are female fronted bands out for sure that ciould absolutely fit on monster. But either 1. They ain't touring right now/nnot full time or 2. Not big enough in the states to do warped here.
I'm just really confused why people who more than likely had no intention of going to Warped Tour (from the sounds of it) are following and actively commenting on a thread to do with Warped Tour.
Because words matter and have meaning and are used to dehumanize and divide people based on gender/race/ethnicity/sexuality.
Because it is a tour that used to mean a lot to me and is still one of the biggest tours in the scene. There is always a hope that the tour will become more progressive and more inline with my current morals.
Those of you choosing not to go to Warped because of Attila/Neck Deep/etc.., you're also choosing to not support the bands you like which is kinda lame.
Based on the lineup for the Hartford date by stage, here's the percentage of bands on each stage that feature female members. For reference, the tour was only comprised of 6% of bands with female members in 2014. Journey's Left Foot - 22% (2/9) Journey's Right Foot - 11% (1/9) Mutant North - 0% (0/9) Mutant South - 11% (1/9) Skullcandy - 33% (3/9) Hard Rock - 10% (1/10) Full Sail - 17% (2/12) Overall - 15% (10/67)
That isn't true. For example, a culture in which calling someone a "****" or a "whore" can reinforce the dehumanization of women, thereby leading to another situation in which a cultural celebrations, like a concert or festival, has people that brutalize women as one of its act, much to the horror of women in the community.
Again: It's very very very very very easy to give money to bands you like without it going through any middle man, let alone one you disagree with as a whole (like Warped Tour).
I feel like this is a good time to invite everyone to join our monthly covers compilation. This month we're doing "Non-Male" artists. Chorus.fm Member Compilations - NO BOYS ALLOWED (Due-April 16)
Exactly this. The bands that are going that support your morals and causes you're behind are going to have no crowd if the attitude you have is "well I'm not going to go because X band is going to be there". Which in turn will make them not want to come back, hindering the progress people want to make for the tour.
