Good point. I hold my values pretty highly but there's definitely some people who take things a little too far for me around here. The conversations in the past few days about the Moose Blood ordeal and Attila being on Warped have been brutal.
My sister is big into pop punk and pop rock and she actually likes this lineup she didn't complain I agree with you guys Kevin did a hell of a job this year but people arent used to changes or something different
Big bummer about no Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Parkway Drive or Escape The Fate (each of those would have been HUGE for me) but still, the lineup looks like one of the most diverse and unique ones in a long time. The undercard in terms of bands I hadn't heard of seems huge and from the quick listen I gave to them there are gonna be a lot of great unknown bands out there this year. Awesome!
Even with a local band, that's what 9? Isn't there usually around 11? And if they are pulling up almost 4 bands a day isn't that going to leave openings for other stages?
I think I just need to go through and listen to everyone I don't know to see if there's actually any hidden gems in there. Because at this point, only 2 of the bands I want to see are playing my date, which isn't close to enough for me to want to go this year.
Must See: Boston Manor Trophy Eyes Movements Creeper Neck Deep The Ataris Microwave The Gospel Youth Might see: Silverstein Hawthorne Heights Our Last Night Save Ferris Dance Gavin Dance
You know I think it's gonna sell well dude, my metal friends who normally gave me tons of shit are like we need to go. 2016 was the pop punk year. This year is the heavy year. I'm willing to bet 2018 will be awesome for pop punk fans.
This is kind of what I'm thinking as well! As much as I don't necessarily like the lineup, I get the sentiment behind it.
I think it will sell just fine. I've already had like 6 friends who haven't been to Warped in 5+ years message me on Facebook saying they're excited to go back this year. Of all the music communities I follow online, here and Alt Press are the only ones who seem upset with this lineup. All the Metal and Punk Rock sites are loving it.
I think it will sell just fine. It will definitely be a different crowd than previous years. I would expect Monster to be packed all day and the other stages to be pretty empty.
And I'm optimistic about next year being good too. A lot of Kevin's usual big names who played in either 2015 or 2016 (Senses Fail, August Burns Red, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, State Champs, Every Time I Die, As It Is) should be available. If you combine that with the possibility of some older bands again like this year, 2018 could be outstanding.
Glad you guys are cool with bands sexually harassing people and festivals giving platforms to problematic people.
My priority bands: Anti-Flag CKy GWAR Adolescents BlessTheFall Silverstein Boston Manor Trophy Eyes Being as An Ocean Microwave Gospel Youth Movements Alestorm William Control Hawthorne Heights Andy Black And if I even have extra time I'm gonna throw a rock at Fronz's stupid fucking head.
I was expecting a comment like this and I feel like you don't understand where our comments are coming from. In no way, shape or form am I ok with anyone, be it band members or not, sexually harassing anyone else. But there's a limit how sensitive people have become imo. Using the "c-word" in lyrics and sexually harassing underage girls are completely different things. Do I agree with some of the messages some of the bands share, absolutely not. Do I feel like boycotting a festival that does a TON of good things, not only for our scene but the world as a whole, absolutely not.
All I have to say is that you vote with your dollar, if you don't like how something is going, do not support it financially. Which is what I will be doing. You guys are more than free to do whatever you want, but the only way to change things is financially, that is the only way big companies and things of this large nature listen. To say boycotts don't work is just factually inaccurate.
I typed a mini novel in response to that last page but trying to point out ignorance to certain members on this site has proven fruitless in the past. The amount of ignorance in those comments is astounding. Also, the C-word was historically used to degrade and demean women, so yes, it's an issue that bands still use that word, and it's also an issue that Attila uses the f-slur in a good chunk of their songs.
I actually really enjoy this lineup and there's a lot of great acts we can interview all wrapped up in one day. Warped is usually our Super Bowl lol. I think last year we pumped out 10-12 interviews. It was quite hectic.
