I'll wait to see it until I believe it. A band getting paid to go on a cruise is much different than a band recording new music and touring.
I've been on three cruises now, and before my third I never understood what people didn't like about them. After the third, I got a better understanding. Granted, my third one was the longest one (8 days compared to the previous two being four days apiece), and I definitely hit a wall on day 6. It just kinda got repetitive and a little too structured for my liking. The food (unlimited 24 hours) and service were always top notch, and the things to do on the ship/shows are great, don't get me wrong.
I'm probably going to end up going with my girlfriend who didn't grow up listening to this you of music. My two biggest worries are that she will get bored and that she will get seasick.
Even if she doesn't like the music there's tons of shit to do. There's a spa, hot tubs, a casino, tv's in each room, etc. Also multiple restaurants and and tons of different stuff to eat.
these cruises for me are all about the culture and the people that will be on the cruise itself. The Flogging cruise, which has now become a defacto punk cruise (nofx, bouncing souls, ltj) is FIRE when it comes to that stuff. Old-school/new school punks, all just getting crazy drunk and singing along to punk songs. And no one's a dick... everyone's at a cool age, so swapping stories is a blast...and they have the perfect mix of bands. This cruise...hmm... i'm not sure actually. It could be fun. Do i want to spend an entire weekend with 3oh3 and simple plan fans? I don't know haha.
Warped Rewind at Sea is the greatest 4-day pop punk party on the high seas! You’ll be treated to numerous sets from each artist on the lineup. In addition to their awesome shows, you’ll get to participate in artist-hosted activities and autograph sessions. We’re even working on a cruisers-only excursion in Cozumel so you’ll have the chance to chill on an island with your Warped family (stay tuned for more details)! Infinite good vibes are headed your way! We’ll dance. We’ll sing. We’ll rewind. We’ll make memories to last a lifetime.
I wasn't expecting any heavy bands to get announced. I have absolutely no probably with this being only pop punk/ska bands.
Day 3 of the cruise... Second Mate: Captain! Another kid windmilled himself into the ocean! Captain: Just... just fuckin... leave him there, please...
I need to hurry up and get my tickets. It looks like the KISS cruise was also on the Norwegian Pearl.
Washy Washy 4 Lyfe. I felt bad that I hit the soda thing so often on Parahoy that the guys never made me show my room card again after the first day.
311 does their own cruise. It's three days and they only play the final day. That's pretty lame. I figured they'd play all three nights.
I mean, the only issue I can see is hearing drunken frat bros scream "Play Helen Keller" during 3Oh!3's set.
Well idk if hardcore simple plan fans would be so laid back and chill either. The Ska kids will be a blast...but it's the pop kids that could be high maintenence and yes...drunk frat boys
I don't think the casual Simple Plan fan who listened to them in high school is going to shell out $2,000 to see them play I'd Do Anything.
I honestly think there will be a lot of people in their mid 20s and 30s trying to gain some sort of nostalgia. I think it's safe to say that a lot of SP's hardcore fanbase is pretty catered to teenagers so this cruise will be free of them.
Yeah, been wanting to go to that particular cruise for many years now.. Never really had someone to go with or maybe enough money though. Plus this year it seems like it sold out really fast. Anyways, the Warped cruise thing sounds pretty dope, might have to look further in to it!
What makes Warped Tour viable is the amount of quality bands you can see in a day for a cheap price. The lineup for this is okay but in no way can I justify paying this amount of money for 30 minute sets from legacy bands.
What if it was a revolving schedule, like the tour, where bands alternate doing a 30 minute set and a full fledged headlining set? Obviously everyone announced already are headliners (Emo Night can spin during set setups/breakdowns) so it wouldn't be an issue as to who's going last. If there's 2 stages, then all 8 of these acts can have the playing last headlining set. I can see Kevin adding maybe 12 more bands on this that can be the openers or the main support. I'm guessing around 20 bands do the bigger cruises (Like Shiprocked or 70,000 tons of metal)?
