Episode was absolutely fantastic. I'm loving the mystery being peeled back slowly. The Vision corpse was gnarly too.
Shared my thoughts on this over on YouTube - Spoilers for those concerned: I'm so happy to have this show. I was concerned about MCU burnout heading into Phase 4 but if they can apply this type of creativity and excitement to the rest of their upcoming slate then they can inject it right into my veins.
I mean if the kids are able to survive outside the bubble and aren't just a figment of this illusion, then she essentially just created life on her own.
I believe there is a part in the comics where once they were outside of the illusion in the story arc that they were created in, they faded from existence. The current version of them are like reincarnated versions. It's confusing and I probably am not remembering correctly. Looked it up: That's only the beginning of a very convoluted origin, however. Long story short, Wanda eventually learns her sons' souls are formed from an aspect of the demon lord Mephisto. After Mephisto reclaims that energy, Wanda and Vision's children are seemingly wiped out of existence and Wanda is made to forget she ever had children. Sadly, those memories are never entirely scrubbed away, which leads to some very dark days for Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2004's Avengers Disassembled. The good news is that Wanda and Vision's children weren't destroyed. Rather, their souls are reincarnated in new bodies to be raised by new surrogate parents. Once Billy and Tommy come to grips with their growing powers and their direct connection to the Avengers, their shared superhero destiny truly begins. Both have overcome plenty of adversity already, with Billy facing regular bullying due to his being gay and Tommy becoming an unwitting test subject in a sinister government facility.
and if the illusion is shattered and her sons disappear...well...that could very well be the catalyst for a certain multiverse of madness to occurr, couldn't it
Very great episode, the other 3 were good but this definitely felt like the first piece of MCU we've gotten since FFH Can't wait for the rest
Considering an erased Endgame post-scene had her seeing Vision's corpse.....she might actually be dragging it around.
Anyone notice that Jimmy did the card trick that he asked Scott about in AMaTW lol He does it when he first meets Monica
it's made of Vibranium, so yeah he's not "decomposing" but it's still morbid af that she's animating his lifeless corpse lol
also, with that Vision reveal, i took it as Wanda remembering how she saw Vision for the last time/reality working more of its way back in after her interaction with Geraldine/Monica. with that said, i am curious to find out if she's really doing a "Weekend at Bernie's" thing with Vision's body or has conjured up some kind of corporeal copy that only exists in this force field.
They actually made me like Darcy and Agent Woo, who were some of my least favorite MCU characters so far. I still am skeptical that it’s all Wanda’s doing. My theory is that “Ralph”, Agnes’s “husband”, is actually Mephisto and they’re manipulating her.
As someone who absolutely loved the first 3 episodes, I hated this one. I was hoping this style episode would be later in the season. Keep the show weird.
