The most I’ve splurged on a record is an OG Third Eye Blind S/T (that I later had signed by Stephan and Brad at a meet & greet in Baltimore) but man that was a lot at that time…
i haven't had that happen to me yet with vinyl but i paid a lot of money for the Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown Batgirl runs (three books each), and then they ended up being reprinted in omnibuses (one book each) within the next year
Pre-ordered new MovMou from WaxBodega. Then the next day did a separate order for the Hot Mully acoustic album, but haven't gotten a shipping confirmation on that one. Do you think they'd hold it and do it with my other pre-order?
I’ve said as much very recently in here, but my copy of this blows me away every time I put it on. I wholeheartedly feel like it was worth the extra expense over the more readily available pressings.
My SmartPunk package w/ The Mystery Record shipped. Didn’t say what the +1 was, but stay tuned for a “random act of kindness” from me if I already own it and/or hate it.
Idea for Jason’s merch line: Chorus logo or URL on front, back side says: “Find me in the Vinyl Thread”
Pretty sure the most I’ve paid for one record was $65 for Switchfoot’s Nothing Is Sound in 2014, which I definitely feel good about now.
If I was going to sell say, 100 records, some of them valuable, is it worth the trouble of selling them myself on Discogs or eBay? Or should I just go to a record store and get ripped off?
I would say Discogs. That’s where I’ve had the most success. But both theirs and EBay’s fees are egregious. Do not take it to a record store unless you just need them off of your shelves immediately.
Do what every other kind soul does and offer up your list here and then go get ripped off. :) EDIT: I've had better luck on selling on eBay than I have on discogs but if they are worth more than $15-20 on either site I'd say list them there. If they are mass produced and worth less then a record store is probably all you'll have unless you FB Marketplace them.
If you're looking for getting best value, I'd start by listing here and then do Discogs/eBay. You could look up approximate value before taking things to a record store, but they'll probably still need to offer less than full value to make any profit on their side of things.
