  1. i tried this for a while. it took up more space and feeling the outline of the record outside the cover whenever i slid them out of the shelf gave me the ick.

I usually don’t use sleeves. I don’t need to waste more plastic on this hobby than is already required!

YUP! i get not wanting ringwear on the jacket, but compressing records between the plastic of the outer sleeve, a proper non-paper inner sleeve, and the back of the record jacket feels like it could have similar effects, and adding the additional pressure of the records sitting in front of and behind the disc just rubs me the wrong way. i tried it for five minutes with a record and it left substantial ring wear on the outer sleeve itself, and given how tight the jacket fit inside the outer sleeve, i'm sure it would've left a mark on the jacket over time.

  4. speaking of space, i've actually taken out all posters and any thick inserts. i'll probably put the inserts back in when i have more room. the posters i'll leave out because it's easier to keep track of them when i want to switch them out, though i don't have any up at the moment. i currently have one wall dedicated to comic covers by Jenny Frison

  5. i think at some point i'll need to upgrade my gatefolds to bigger outer sleeves. i know someone had a rec for one but i lost track of it...?

Same here. I also only cut 1 seam on the packaging so I can extract the LP but preserve the hype sticker. The tricky part has been finding good outer sleeves for gatefold packaging.

  10. huh, i've been using these and they seem to be the same size (12.75"x12.75"). the thicker jackets are still a little hard to get in and out.

I have like 5 records that are slightly too big to fit in a sleeve and it drives me crazy

got to sleeve. I had our basement flood and had they not been sleeved, the bottom shelf of my kallax would have all been ruined.

This is giving me "Simpsons S6 DVD" flashbacks and I don't like it.

  14. this is kinda where i'm at right now. i'd like a small pack of like oversize sleeves but i can't find anything that's only slightly bigger. there's the standard size and then there's ones for boxsets.

The only one I have that’s too big for a sleeve is The Fragile. And I am forever on the lookout for a sleeve for it.

I think the only non sleeved stuff I have is box sets. Like Underoath and all the Touche Amore box sets. But even those range from needing a "slightly bigger than normal sleeve" to "XL needed". I do have some videogame box sets that are that size so they DO exist but I could never see the point in ordering a 25+ package of XL sleeves for.....4.

I had to remove all my sleeves in order to fit all my records on my shelving unit. Guess I either need to upgrade my storage or start selling more.

A big sleeve guy, at least for all my “modern” albums.

I also put tiny stickers on my sleeves with the date the album came out and where I bought it - it makes me try to listen to albums on the day they came out.

My dad had a friend with a massive audiophile setup that I got to see a couple years back and he put all his records in special outer sleeves that had dual pockets- one for the record itself and one for the jacket so you didn't have to take the whole thing out each time. I thought that was interesting, but I can't remember for the life of me what the brand was.

  24. this site has dual-pocket sleeves and 13"x13" sleeves (and a combination of both)

These might’ve been the ones because I vaguely remember him mentioning they were from Canada. Thanks!
