I had zero intentions lining up. But decided to swing by the shop in the mall 40 minutes before opening. 7 folks in line 4 who were there for Swifty. Lots of shops in Canada don't have a lot of the heavily distributed titles due to delays with Universal Music which included Taylor. So safe to say the 4 folks were bummed. Sounds like the shops will get their hauls early next week. What a mess. Anyways this is my current haul this morning. Plus I got 20 percent off! I'll check online tomorrow for everything else. Personally I think lots of stores are going to start boycotting RSD. It's definitely not what it used to be when I first started participating in it 15 years ago. It's lost its spirit. BUT if anyone over the pond can snag me a copy of Sunday (1994)'s live EP I'll love them forever!!!
My local shop does a crazy block party and typically has a pretty long line of people who camp out the night before, too. Cool for the continued consumption of physical media, but not so cool for people who cannot do crowds.
movers are here, so i couldn't do RSD if i tried. but it's nice to see my local store has a good handful of copies of Ethel Cain's Inbred. hopefully won't be too difficult to acquire afterwards.
Struck out on everything today, sorry folks. Even with an 8:45 time slot for an 8 am opening, it was a bloodbath.
Yeah, this year was a total bummer. Obviously, a ton more people than past years. But stock on pretty much everything that wasn’t Taylor Swift was super low and lines were crazy. I hope it’s from actual collectors and not flippers, but who knows. This has been a tradition with me and my friends for years. But this was the first time where we were like this isn’t worth it any more.
Was one of the first 25 in line and they took our lists to pregather for us which was cool. Ended up spending way more that way since I was browsing the rest with empty hands. The weather was nice so they limited it to 10 in the store at any given time too so it was really chill for customers and the dude at checkout. Main grabs were Buckley, Jackson C. Frank (a grail for me), and Dijon. But I grabbed FOB, Paramore, Mayday Parade, Momma, John Prine, Labi Siffre, a few 7” and two pulls for friends. Went from not planning to go to my biggest RSD total ever pretty quick.
I had been pining for a copy of Brazil- philosophy of velocity..turns out I should have done a google search cause it was pressed in November and now I'm pumped! if anyone else is interested it's available on bandcamp-

Went back to Programme at about 9 after messaging them to see if they still had Paramore and they were kind enough to pull one of their last two for me. Picked up that and this year’s Bluey zoetrope along with the Black Friday Bluey zoetrope and the band variant Stateside “where you found me” for 20% off…and Stateside’s singer was manning the door.
Today’s haul. Got a chance to check out a new store that opened by me—where I found a lot of the international stuff. Absolutely insane selection there which my wallet will not be happy about

Decided not to wake up early since I was only after FOB and it had a pretty large pressing number. My local Bull Moose was out by the time I got out, and so was the other store in town. I probably could’ve gotten a store transfer from BM when those opened up at 4, but it was such a beautiful day that I decided to take a 50 minute drive to the next nearest location that was still showing stock online. They had two left when I got there! Probably would’ve grabbed Paramore if I’d seen it while out, but I definitely don’t need it.
Managed to get 2 (Against Me! and FOB) out of the 3 (Paramore) that I wanted. The store I went to in Orlando, Park Ave CDs, was pretty busy but they've got a good system that works for everyone.
Wait in line, run home and post for sale on Discogs. Fucking dorks. Really hoping I can grab a copy tomorrow morning.
The longer RSD goes on the more it becomes about the people queuing overnight and then putting it straight online for sale. More about the showoffs than the collectors but each to their own. Gave it a miss for those reasons and I don’t regret it. I’m an RSD grinch. I’ll check online for the DTR comp but very unlikely.
I got 3/5 of what I wanted. We'll see if I can get the rest tomorrow. Flippers are the absolute worst.
Nothing specific I was gunning for today, which I actually prefer for RSD. No stress, just fun. Cool haul today.
That's all I want and my local store (30 mins( just posted an IG video of their leftovers and they had a few of the comps left. But I saw its $52 and now Im telling myself its not worth that much and staying home. Screw that.
