On a good day, I could listen to 3 or 4 albums if I'm at home alone (I work from home and don't always need to hear things I'm working with.) I do some listening in the mornings with my kids during breakfast a few days of the week. All in all, much less than I could.
Oh okay that makes me feel better about not listening as much as I'd want. I'm usually gaming or watching something, but even when I'm reading comics I find that I like to do so in silence more often than not

Given my set-up it's hard to listen to spin records at any point after 5pm or so at home during the week. But I do make it a point to listen to at least 1-2 records every Friday afternoon and doing 'vinyl-only' listening whenever I'm home alone on the weekends. I also try not to stress too much about it though. It's a hobby, not a commitment.
I try to spin at least 1-2 records a day, but was listening to a lot more vinyl when I was allowed to work from home. Being in the office 5 days a week limits my vinyl listening time, but I get extra spins in on the weekends too.
I'm so lazy when it comes to playing records, I usually end up listening to things via streaming. I do WFH, but in meetings most of the day.
The collecting aspect is still very much keeping me interested, even if I can't listen as much as I should when you consider the money spent.
Nowadays I usually only listen to one record per week. But that's mainly because I think my speakers got messed up and the sound bothers me. On that note, anyone got good recommendations for a speaker upgrade?
I’ll go through phases of thinking I don’t listen to the records enough to justify the purchases, but then I’ll get a massive dopamine high from seeing a shipping notification for something like homegrown’s ‘act your age’ and think you know what it makes me happy.
pretty sure my whole setup is older than me haha, not sure about my turntable but it probably is too. but my integrated amplifier is a 70s Kenwood, and speakers are 80s Yamahas.
My setup is similar, have a pair of speakers probably from the 70s that somebody left in a shed at our first house. Cleaned them up and paired them with the receiver and turntable I inherited from my in-laws. The smell of the old electronics warming up only adds to the enjoyment factor. I only get 1-2 albums played a week, usually just when my kids need to burn off energy by running and dancing to something upbeat. My favorite "me-time" listening is usually on a Sunday night when the kids are in bed and I dim the lights, make some tea, and immerse my self in an album and the liner notes. Huh, maybe I am actually older than my setup?!
Random question but do record stores have to pay for listening events or are stores around Cincy just lame? I don't think I've seen a record store here promote an event or seen a local store listed when bands post about it. Honestly, I don't know if I would go but seems like a no brainer to get people in the door if its at little or no cost.
all this talk of making time to spin records convinced me to throw on a couple while working. giving my vinyl copy of private music another spin at the moment. think i'm queueing up Deafheaven's New Bermuda next.
I got my copy of Audrey Hobert's album yesterday, so I listened to that lastnight. And for Christmas, I got Hanson's album Underneath, so I listened to that one a few days ago. But I don't remember the last record I listened to before those two. It's rare that I'm in the living room doing anything other than watching TV. I should get a setup here in my office and I bet I'd listen much more often.
that has been getting a lot of play from me lately since receiving LPWP as a gift for my bday a few weeks ago.
i've also toyed with the idea of dedicating time (maybe at least once a week) to doing nothing but listening to a record front to back with no screens or anything else going on in the background, only interacting with the liner notes. i'm generally good about active listening when it comes to music, but i also think it's easy to treat it as a background activity, and most of the time i get to use the turntable, it's for the latter type of listening.
damn, i gotta pick it up soon. i have Sunbather through Infinite Granite on vinyl, but haven't gotten that, Roads to Judah, or any non-studio album yet.
