Am I the only one not on Discogs? Is this mandatory? Ha ha.

 

Adding your collection to Discogs would give me serious anxiety. haha.

This might have been a mistake on my part... which is why I'm not investigating further, but one of my purges was getting rid of the Metalocalypse album on vinyl. When the store called me back after drop off and told me they were willing to buy it off me for $300+ I had an out of body experience. I sold it (please don't tell me I blew it, I'll die.) and haven't looked back... which has me wondering; what other goldmines am I sitting on? I mean, if I'm cherishing Raffi's Christmas album, probably not much, but most of me is happy in ignorance.

 

Seeing the values of individual albums and my collection as a whole is definitely a mixed bag for me. I definitely have things I'm now hesitant to open after seeing the market value. That said, the ongoing benefits of the app are enough for me to overlook that part. I love being able to look at an artist's page and see how much of their discography I have, and it's also kept me from accidentally buying something I already owned on multiple occasions. Not to mention the marketplace aspect. As someone with a library science degree the only thing I love more than physical media is being able to sufficiently catalog said media.

 

First album picture disc? looks like you can pick it up for $300 on discogs...

EDIT: Metalocalypse 2xLP hand numbered had one copy sell for $500, but all the others were in the $2-300 range, which seems closer to actual value. I'd say a $300 offer for it was a no brainer.

Also, I could've sworn it was black vinyl... but the picture makes sense.

 

Every couple of months or so I'll take a relaxing night and go through my collection and update it on Discogs. It's great seeing the adds/removes to keep it all up to date. It's also so tempting looking at the "max value" of what your collection is worth. Especially when there are some truly limited pieces (test presses) that don't even have a value attached to them

 

As someone who's been alphabetizing everything he's collected, I can completely understand and appreciate this.
The cataloguing part makes complete sense to me. I can see the benefit in that.

I’ve been wanting a copy of this album for a while. $45 is a lot but might have to splurge.

 

Holy shirt, I looked up how much my Creeper Lagoon album is worth... I bought it for $4.99... it's averaging $266 and highest was $532... (I know this sort of thing is not new to most...)

I saw someone guess Catalyst, but I’m not sure what their guess was based on.

 

I was thinking that too. Also based on my buddy telling me that someone guessed that. So we can all just wish it into existence sooner rather than later!

If so, it's gonna be a shit show. Like the Sticks and Stones and Coming Home drops.

 

There's also a blue/yellow split. I'm not a big splatter fan, but I might have to snag the split.
