I bought less vinyl (10 total I think) in 2019 than any previous year since I've been collecting.

Not really sure why, but I feel like bands aren't doing as much in terms of exciting releases.

I haven't bought a record since moving, trying to get back into collecting, just got myself a new table for my house. Anyone in here from Austin? What are some good shops to check out?

I've heard really good things about this place. Planning on going to check them out on my day off this week!

    yeah waterloo rules

also, on top of VMP's issues with shipments, their start to the year of exclusives is less than promising

so after 15 minutes of trying and customer service insisting I give it another shot it finally worked lol

edit; it’s still definitely loose though, you can see the give when it’s playing

Glad it worked for you finally! I hope you enjoy spinning some records! :-)

Hmm...is the speed still okay? I've never noticed mine looking like it has give.

speed appears to be ok, but I can still see the droop so to speak when that section comes around the pulley. So not sure if that’s grounds to go back to u-turn or not

If it was me, I'd buy a back-up belt ($5+ shipping last time I bought them) and see if there's a visual difference. If yes, I'd call support and see if they'll send a belt out for free. If no, I have a back-up belt for later.

does anyone own a rega planar 1?

i think i'm ready to get into vinyls (for better or worse) but i'm currently figuring out what best TT to buy. right now it's a toss up between planar 1 and pro-ject dc, but I'm heavily leaning towards the former despite it being ridiculously more expensive in the US compared to the UK

i also looked up orbit which after pages of lurking i found is a favorite of this thread, but not sure how huge the upgrade will be if i picked 1 of those 2 above.

i also have a list of potential speakers already, but i'm planning to drop by nearby electronics stores to check them out for myself. i'm excited and kind of nervous.

My wife surprised me with a new turntable finally, so I am finally back into collecting. Picked up a few things here and there, but nothing too fancy however I did find mewithoutYou's Pale Horse deluxe at my local used book store for only $15!

I have no experience with either table personally, but have heard nothing but good things about Rega. Also, it’s just “vinyl”. In case you post anywhere else, some elitist would probably be a dick about it lol.

I bought my first TT in 2018 and after a ridiculous amount of reading and getting really daunted by the choices, I went for the project primary turntable with Roth Oli VA4 active speakers. Because the speakers are active the setup was mega easy. I am by no means an audiophile but the sound is extremely clean with really nice clarity. Wasn't ridiculously expensive and I got both in white and they look sweet as well (if that's important to you!)

I would, but $90 is a little rich for a 7”. Doesn’t help that I am paying for my wedding.

It’s a 12”. The version of Dont Speak is like 7 minutes long haha. But understandable. It’s value is high and it’s probably one of the most expensive records I own besides my Coheed stuff

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not criticizing your valuation. I am just not in a position to spend right now.
