I once had a closet full of mailers, and a garage full of mailers, all from purchasing records from people throughout the world. I'm now out of usable mailers from sending records, and I threw a bunch of them away when I moved in February. Insane... does this mean I have to buy more records from people so I can get more mailers? lol.

 

Prawn has preorders up for their new record for anyone interested, they even have a bundle of all rare pressings of their LP/EPs available

 

So tempted to do this and I have never listened to Prawn outside of their single today.

 

Picked up the deafheaven demo and Even if it kills me by mcs after putting off buying them for YEARS. Thanks to my hometown record store Double Decker records and their 50% off bin. Also getting Source Tags on Friday and I can't believe I'm the only one here excited about it.

The Maine is putting the clear/smoke tour variant of lovely little lonely online next week. It's one of three new variants this year.

 

I have the ETR copy I got on the second hand market for $40. May still get this as well because I love this album so damn much.

 

It's a great record. I think Equal Vision is actually pressing this. Also I don't have many pink records.

Just picked up the last copy of Do You Know Who You Are? on Amazon. Wasn't even aware Texas Is The Reason had pressed this until last weekend.

I also ordered myself a copy of When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes. My turntable and I are going to be very good buddies over the next couple of months.

 

So I'm thinking about pulling the trigger soon on upgrading to a U-turn from my cheap-o turntable. Out of the cartridges they have available for the custom build, theres the Ortofon 2M red ($75), then the blue ($211) , and the OM5E ($35). My question is, would it be worth it to go all out and get the Blue or will the Red be good enough? Like is there really that big of a difference in quality between the two to warrant spending nearly triple on the cartridge? I'm not a crazy audiophile nor am I well versed in cartridges and whats worth it or not worth it when it comes to them, so any advise will help!

 

what receiver/pre-amp do you have and what speakers? No use in upgrading past the red if you're gonna be bottlenecked by your speakers

well I'm trying to slowly upgrade my whole system piece by piece and starting with my turntable. Currently working with a pair of 15 yr old Sony speakers that are decent but I'm planning on upgrading to a much nicer set for sure, a cheap-ish Sherwood reciever (I want to get an amp instead which I'm open to recommendations on), and I need to also find a pre-amp to go along with the U-turn since I don't want an internal one nor external one they sell on their site.

 

Also thanks for reminding me to pre-order the new Chelsea Wolfe and Godspeed You albums lol. Need to order Citizen soon.

If you're going to upgrade your whole system and get to a point where your speakers will be good enough to output the quality difference that the blue will produce, I say go for it. You can always upgrade your cartridge later though, if you're on a short-term fixed budget. So, at least get the red if it's manageable.

 

Only have Turnover and Paramore on preorder. Foster the People should be at my front door today. Bought my girlfriend the Beauty and the Beast picture disc haha. Been trying to limit my vinyl purchases lately.
