Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I'll be moving in the next couple months and was wondering if anyone had any box recommendations for records?

    Here’s what I used:
    Small Moving Box

    Held up well.

If you've got a lot, I found the most cost-effective way was to simply wrap my shelves tight and transport them that way, but that assumes that you'll have access to a large vehicle. Definitely won't work if you won't have an enclosed truck of some sort.

This is what I used in my move two years ago. Perfect size boxes. Although, lift from bottom of box as lifting by the hand holds may results in the box tearing. The only downside to them.

how thick is the cardboard on those U-Haul boxes? in previous moves, i've opted for Lowes heavy duty boxes (medium size), packing around 50 or so in a box and filling the extra space with padding or towels. but a smaller box like this might work better if sturdy enough

the box itself is sturdy. But as I said in my post above, the hand holds are possible to tear as it’s quite heavy when full. I think I got 75ish per box and it fits perfectly.

Yea, I think I was able to get 70ish in there as well. Almost made the mistake of using the handles started to hear a rip and repositioned hands before disaster struck

i'll definitely avoid grabbing the handles, haha. hopefully this smaller box would be snug enough so they don't slide around. the small Lowes heavy duty boxes were a little too small for my taste, which is why i was using the medium ones back in the day. sounds like this is the best of both worlds

It’s the perfect size. No sliding at all.

would you recommend stacking them? i've usually decided against stacking them due to the weight, but didn't know if it would be any different with these boxes

I believe I stacked 2. I only needed 3 boxes at the times. While being stored before moving, I did stack 2 and the other was set aside and they were fine.

I’m in Toronto for the week. Other than Dine Alone’s store, anywhere I should check out? Ideally close to downtown (staying in Yorkville).

Just arrived today! My only two gripes are that it’s not a gatefold for a double LP, and the lyric booklet would’ve been nicer if it was stapled together. No noticeable volume/balancing issues though…

Man that target sale just killed me haha. Grabbed 12 records for under 200 though.

I don't have time to browse right now, but any standouts in the Target sale?

I think it applies to everything in their store, so just a matter of what they have in stock. I got the anniversary edition of the Menzingers OTIP for 13. A lot of records in that 13-16 dollar range.

Gonna Ride My Palomino, Ride 'im to the Fair.

    I love Kops Records.
There's a location on the Danthforth (which is the East side of Bloor, which is the street that the number 2 line runs on.)
Or, you can head to Queen and Spadina and hit the other Kops AND Sonic Boom.
Take the number 2 line West to Spadina, then head south via the Street Car. Sonic Boom is south of Dundas (Sullivan and Spadina) and Kops is about a 2 minute walk East of Queen and Spadina.
Play Da Record is also on Spadina, just south of College/north of Dundas.

Those stores are easily accessible via the subway.
Rotate This! and Dead Dog are other good stores.

I didn’t go too crazy, but picked up the new LS Dunes, Good Charlotte’s Young and the Hopeless and Coheed’s Good Apollo. All 3 for $47 and free shipping felt like a steal.

Thank you! I’m at Bloor & Yonge, the train is super easy to navigate thus far. I’ll try and hit a few of these!
