I need to be out of my house for ~3 months and will need to put about 430 records in storage.

Does anyone have recommendations for the best boxes or crates for this? And are there any tips to keep in mind for this sort of situation?

where will you be storing them?

 

‘Really Useful’ do 35 or 48 litre XL boxes that are perfect for vinyls and really sturdy. Moved recently and used these - didn’t have to worry about them at all. Fit nice and snug, really strong and stackable. I’d struggle to find something better.

 

I got Here, Here, and Here at a record store for $40, more than I'd usually pay for an album but still pretty good considering it's going for $90 on Discogs

 

That it was! I knew it would go fast. it never got a proper physical release when it originally came out.

 

Good call on changing the album art. Band photos on album covers are always lame

 

Also, I'm at a Hana Vu show, so I got two of her records, and now I've spent $100 on vinyl today. I'm tapping out for the rest of the month. See y'all in September, it's been a good run

Interesting; I'm going to Costco today and know they have similar ones. You felt comfortable stacking them? I'm sure it's fine but it just terrifies me since they'll be sitting in the unit for 3 months versus just being moved within a day. Not sure if the weight would be bad for 3 months.

 

We did some home renovations earlier this year that took about 3 months.

I used these. They are sturdy and stacked well up to 4 high. Plus you can use them afterwards for other types of storage.

Pricey, but it’s our expensive vinyl collection we are talking about protecting here.

Yeah the stacking is gonna be crucial for me, they're either going into the storage unit with the rest of the house or to my brother's house. If I can stack it will save a ton of space in either place.

 

100% they’re so sturdy that they could be stacked for a long time with no movement. If you get a chance to see them in person have a look. Whatever works best for you! Good luck!

Fuck. Someone was selling Park - It Won't Snow...for $70 on discogs yesterday and by the time I checked my notification telling me, it was already sold. Lowest I've seen on there, would have bought in a heartbeat.

 

I caught that too and was either too late or they realized they didn’t want to sell it. They had No Signal listed as well.

Proof that we need represses.

 

Maybe we'll get a discography pressed once the 20th anniversary of Building A Better comes out?

Damn, so it looks like It Won’t Snow really did sell. That buyer had fucking eagle eyes.
