Really want to order The Damned Things, but I'm going out of town to remote areas for the next 5 weeks and don't trust it to get to me. Might have to ship to a friend.

I just turned on my receiver and it made a buzzing noise, the it proceeded to spark, smoke, and a flame shot out... Guess I'm not listening to anything for awhile haha.

Anyways, just nabbed these from my PO box yesterday. My first Dinked edition!

So you were able to find the Dinked? Wasn’t there another album in your PO Box? Or, is it still on route?

Oh, Betty is en route with another 3 lps. Haha. ;)
Maybe by Monday or Tuesday, I can pick it up.

I ordered Sufjan when it dropped. Ordered it from Assai in the UK. I really didn't want to buy that picture disc.

  9. You know the three sided 2-LP where the fourth side is blank? If it's 33rpm, would switching it to 45 make it fill the fourth side (or exceed it)?

So I talked to someone on discord about VC and apparently they talked to jhulud and he reached out to whoever owns the site and never heard anything back.....radio silence ....so yeah most likely dead.

    RIP.

I assume that's Virgil Dickerson or something - the Suburban Home Records guy - who owns the site/board? It's been years since I frequented VC but bummer to hear it's down now. Seems like Virgil checked out of the whole label thing years ago so no surprise about the radio silence (if in fact that's the guy jhulud is referring to).

  12. Shopradiocast bought the VC boards from him years ago

Ohh that's right, i forgot about that!

  14. it was only a matter of time - it's a huge bummer - I remember sometime last year there were rumors of Dead Format being revived but looks like little came out of that

The deadformat guy even posted a teaser on VC last year!

Maybe my fav album ever, or at least my favorite that I own. I don’t spin it often but when I do, it always feels special.

Since TTTH / Parting Gift love pressing random albums, how about doing this one for the 20th anniversary?

  19. I got Room's Too Cold on sale for $12 at UO THEN used five dollar rewards on it. Feels like stealing

Also went to a record store and saw Chappell Roan special edition for $60, then went to another and saw popstar edition for like $30 so I got it, idk what the difference is aside from the green jacket and the inserts?

the special edition is 180g, all other pressings are 140g.

  21. Anyone in the market for the Observatory pressing of Underoath's TOCS? Mint condition.

  22. Oh so it's better for people who can actually hear the difference and can actually afford to pay twice as much

The green jacket looks nice tho. But maybe a little excessive if I'm already putting outer sleeves on everything? I have the pink one for Mitski's latest and it barely fits

oversized sleeves are a good investment for records like that. vinylstoragesolutions.ca makes some really good ones
re: Chappell Roan, i have yet to pick up a copy (planning to do so soon), but i don't mind splurging a bit because i really like this record a lot. even if the average listener might not be able to tell that much of a difference between 140g and 180g records, i figure i might as well invest in one that i know will supposedly be the best quality i can get my hands on (at least re: durability). that and i really would like the inserts just to have lyrics on hand.

vinyl weight makes no difference in sound quality

i should've clarified. ofc there's not that much of a difference re: sound quality (not any that's discernable to the average ear anyway). i have plenty of lower weight pressings of records with 180g options out there that sound great. a good mastering job goes a long way regardless of weight. i'm primarily interested in durability and the feeling of something more premium. either option or the record will be fine re: fidelity.
