Somebody listed one of my favorite records (The Swellers’ “Good For Me”) on Discogs tonight considerably under the recent sales and I’ve never scrambled to purchase faster. They’ve got zero feedback but have been a member since 2021 so I’m either gonna get completely scammed or a steal. Fingers crossed for the latter.

  2. A copy showed up in a local shop here recently for about $80, I passed it up and it was gone in like a couple of days. Still holding out hope Smartpunk makes good on their claim to press it in 2024

    This one was $55.

  4. Hell yeah! That’s a great price for it, congrats on the find

I bought Good For Me back in the day. Had no clue they were going for so much until recently

There’s quite a few records I own where I just assume they’re widely available but find out on here they’re out of stock and going for crazy prices. It’s interesting as they’re usually the ones I just thought would have been pressed to death.

It’s more surprising because the earlier Swellers records seem to be way more available/less in demand. I saw My Everest at a shop for a $20 last year but didn’t have room to pack it so I passed on it

    Die rad.

Wait, did Vinyl Collective suffer the same fate of Dead Format? Website hasn't worked in at least a week. I used to live on those forums a decade ago, luckily I have this one now

My Everest got a repress through Smartpunk a couple years ago, I think they’re just more of them and it’s lesser known. GFY and Light Under Closed Doors are part of that era where The Swellers were kinda forgotten by their labels so much lower print runs.

JEW’s “Futures” comes to mind - I have the blue SRC pressing that I bought pretty cheap (<$20) from them and now it’s closer to $100.

Perfect example - and coincidentally another one I didn’t know about haha. I love how that colour came out, so beautiful. One of my more regularly played.

I think the last time it was down for a lil over a week so yeah. But this is happening way too often, it sucks. Like you said we have here now but I still got my punk/hxc/metal news from there so I'm hoping it comes back!

Speaking of dead format, there was rumblings of it coming back. I think the creator of the site was on VC and said something like "stay tuned.....". Homepage is just a login page and if you try to create a new account you need a beta sign up. It doesn't recognize my old login so either old stuff got deleted or I don't remember it lol.

I was stunned when I saw people asking for that much in a few vinyl groups. Fun "Aim & Ignite" was like this before it got another pressing; I have the black etched copy from several years ago and it was going for well over $100 until last year when several new variants came out.

I'm broke too, but both of these were such a big part of my teen years so I've gotta shell out for them. Used to drive all over to see them.

my sister has that setup. she enjoys it, and it sounds pretty good from what i remember. my dad has the same table but different, older speakers and he says it sounds great. i got my original AT-LP120 bundle from TurntableLab (with a set of white Kanto YU4 speakers). they're a great vendor to go with. just make sure to be there to sign for it when it's delivered because mine required a signature.
