If anyone is selling colored variants of any Mastodon albums lemme know

 

I bought these tonight off CL for $60. The turntable I've had for a week and finally got it all set up. I went to best buy to pick a cheap receiver until I figure out which vintage one I want. I'm stoked!

 

I picked up Circa Survive - On Letting Go and mewithoutYou - Brother, Sister last night. I need to get my ass in gear and get myself a new turntable since my ex kept the one we had.

 

I need Brother Sister so bad

I spent like 2 hours last night organizing my collection, subbing the paper sleeves for MoFis inner sleeves and then putting them in Collector Protector outer sleeves . feels good

 

You have your entire collection in plastic sleeves?

 

Yup except for Brand News Deja repress which is still sealed and Jacks Mannequins 10th Ann of EIT which is still sealed

 

I only put them in plastic if they came with it

i probably have half my collection in plastic covers or whatever theyre called.

 

I have every record, including 7 inches, in plastic sleeves and maybe half in mofi inner sleeves. Everything is alphabatized then chronological. Ever since I started working from home, I've just been more obsessed.

according to Discogs marketplace stats at least, the most valuable records i own are Fall Out Boy's albums, lol. fitting.

 

Got the first press of my favorite album yesterday. Stoked

 

I have a Crosley Cruiser and I've recently noticed the tracking arm doesn't appear to be hitting my records quite as clean. Vocals sound fine, but any instrumentation sounds very flat.

Anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions? I want to buy a new system eventually but am currently stuck with this Crosley. It's barely a year old...

 

That's just the nature of any turntable that doesn't have both a counterweight to ensure that there is proper vertical tracking force in the groove and an anti-skate feature that sets the proper horizontal tracking force. Plus, if I remember right, the Cruiser has a ceramic cartridge with a conical needle, so the contact that the needle is making with the groove isn't going to pick up the full depth of the groove to get those details out, while wearing the groove down faster than a "standard" cartridge. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot to be done with your current set up.

My honest advice is to stop playing your records on the crosley so when you finally upgrade your systems the grooves aren't damaged

Finally settled on the vintage receiver to get. I picked up a Realistic STA-120b on eBay. Same brand as those Nova 8 speakers I picked up last week so it matches a bit. Plus it looks sexy as hell

 

Any suggestions on a reasonably priced upgrade to get? I was afraid that the Crosley was a bit of a lost cause. But I have heeded your advice since the problem. I haven't played anything since noticing the tone arm is off.
