True. I just want to complete a few discographies (with reasonable prices) and then just chill.

 

Same I'd like to just settle my credit card and maybe go on vacation somewhere (and avoid going into a record store while abroad hahah).

So I ordered a coloured copy of the recent repress of Substance by New Order from Rough Trade UK. I've never ordered from them and am always weary of ordering from over the pond since shipping and conversion is ridiculous. Not to mention. Their cardboard quality is garbage. Alas, I bit the bullet.

It arrived tonight overbagged by Canada Post and the printed bag essentially said "we apologize but your mail was found damaged in the mail stream. "

Upon removing the bag it was clear that the mailer sustained water damage. Also the mailer was the shitty cardboard I mentioned above.

The cover sustained some water damage in small spots. The printed sleeves are fine and I haven't spun the records yet.

You folks know I order A LOT but this is probably the first time I've ever had this extensive damage to a mailer/record. I emailed them to see if they can refund me something.

If I knew this was going to happen I would have just bought a standard black copy locally.

I've attached pictures of my grievances lol.

 

Yikes, that's really bad. They should definitely refund that.

Makes me a little nervous about that Fire Theft repress I ordered from Germany.

 

Damn, looks like it fell into a body of water and hung out in there for a minute. Hope they are nice about it and provide a refund.

I guess I’ll have to wait until the 25th anniversary for my You Come Before You repress though.

 

Ive ordered a couple of times off of Thirty Something Records. The first time was in 2020 I ordered "The End of the Ring Wars" by the Appleseed Cast and Far "Water and Solutions" their packing left a lot to be desired the sleeves had some bumps and creases on both. I'm pretty sure it was the mailer they used at the time. I know folks complained to them.

A year or so after I ordered their repress of The Appleseed Cast "Mare Vitalis" and it was flawless.

I also recently ordered something from HHV.de and it was perfect.

I wouldn't be too concerned. I preordered their Fire Theft and Far drops. I'm pretty stoked for both.

 

Yeah, it looks like someone wanted to test how shitty quality UK corrugate is by submerging it in a puddle or something haha.

I'm hoping I get some form of compensation. Or there's going to be hell to pay!

 

My gigantic sound of vinyl order came today and I never got tracking for it. A welcome surprise.

Their stuff is doubly expensive. It basically just drops it down to "regular" price. So if there's any specific variant or something you want from them but didn't want to break the bank. Now's the time!

I nabbed the Whitney Houston set and Miles Davis Box set a month ago during their last sale. It was money well saved / spent.

From past experience they are usually quite good at compensating / replacing.

This is the first I’ve ever heard someone question the quality of UK’s corrugated cardboard so that gave me a chuckle.

 

I remember ordering from Rarewaves via Amazon and they'd always use this thin flimsy corrugate mailer and I was always amazed that the records showed up in mint condition!

I'll report back once they get back to me. I'm not fuming about it, I'm just bummed lol.

So spinning the album while wrapping my kids presents this morning and it sounds flawless. So I mean there's some solace.

still really crazy to think of how many artists' merch stores have been thrown for a loop with this

 

That sucks so much, even more so because that variant turned out to be such a headache. I pre-ordered that version from my local shop months and months ago, and they never got any copies. Checking on Discogs it doesn't look like many copies even made it across the pond. I finally got a black copy yesterday. I hope they offer you something to make up for that.

Edit: I just did a little digging, and it sounds like the distributors oversold this release pretty dramatically, so that's why it's been such a spotty release.

 

Revolver had a "warehouse find" of their Pantera box set. So I ordered without hesitation because well I don't own a single album of theirs and they're one of the first metal bands I got into as a teen.

Box shows up just now and they're individually numbered and I'm like.... Seriously?!



Also funny the box says /100 when it was limited to /300 and the individual variants inside are limited to /2000.

 

Speaking of Revolver, they shipped me Type O World Coming Down so fast and it looks / sounds perfect. I just need Life is Killing Me now but it’s delayed until April.

 

I guess I got lucky a few weeks ago. I ordered an album that they were fulfilling and I got it. Glad I ordered it when I did. Yeesh, what a nightmare for so many artists and bands.

Not that they’re big on here, but Ninja Sex Party’s new album physical copies are now canceled at the moment due to this.

 

Got the FOB coffee table book/vinyl. They did such an awesome job with this.

 

I finally acquired two of my long-time grails this weekend!
