Dear Discogs,

 

I really miss the Dead Format days. Discogs is really nice for seeing the value of a record, but that's about it.

 

Wow that's like everyone's white whale.
I almost pulled the trigger, until I saw that $80 total.

 

I’m confused - never sold any of my records before. Would shipping and label cost not be factors if you sold privately?

 

Say I sell you a record for $55. You pay $55, I buy a label for $4 for media mail, I net $51. Even if we use PayPal Goods and Services, I get roughly $52 dollars, so I net $48. With Discogs, I net around the same, but you paid $62, mostly because of Discogs taking their cut.

For how much it goes for, that’s a discount. Haha. It truly sucks, but it only gets repressed once a year and will likely take six months to get to you.

Well not sure how sus they are like Ebay. What I've done is I've corresponded with folks and then taken it off discogs and chatted via email. I've let folks pay good and services or if they trust me, do Friends and Family. Nobody takes a cut and everybody wins!

Ive only done it a few times though.

I tried that on ebay once and when they saw me telling the buyer my email they were like "no no no"!

 

Yeah, you don’t want to pull that stuff on ebay. They get weird about it and have no problem dropping the banhammer.

 

ebay absolutely sucks, all around. Between the fees and the lunatics that are shopping on there. Good god.

 

I don't want to bump the Title Fight thread for no reason, but I remember when Hyperview came out, the pressing really sucked. Did they ever press it again, and did later pressings sound better?

 

Brooklyn Vegan pulled a fast one on me. Emailed them after almost a month with no activity on my tracking a few days ago, suddenly activity happens yesterday, and it shows up 15 minutes ago!

 

I just got an email that the PolyVinyl preorders for Hum were delayed, which is kind of awesome because i completely forgot i preordered them in the first place!

Also just picked up Wonder Years TGG boxset and am very happy with it. The packaging, pressing and write-ups are all fantastic.

 

Is that the Smartpunk one? I own it and think it sounds okay.

Looks like it, but not sure what the improvement was. I somewhat remember my OG copy not sounding very good either after I cleaned it.

 

Yeah the black variants are done in stores this week but the color variants I believe are delayed

 

The yellow smartpunk looks like a 2022 repress.

 

*Not awesome Hum is delayed a little bit, but awesome that I was reminded and they are coming in the mail hopefully this month.

I had Hum preordered through Merchbar and decided I wanted the colored variant, so I sent a cancellation request to them and they responded saying they were swamped with emails and would get to it when they can. So now I'm concerned that I'm going to end up with two copies of the same album. Could be worse I suppose.
