The version from Amazon actually sounds pretty good.

I acquired my parents record collection in the 90s. Had a crappy old turntable but did the trick. Picked up a few along the way but really started collecting again in 2019ish. Got a new turntable during Covid and here we are.

Just FYI, the 2014 press said the same thing

I started collecting in 2012. Took a pause in 2016, sold like 75% of my collection. And then in 2020 I picked it up again and went nuts. I probably bought more records in 2020 than I did in that entire initial 4 year period

I got my first record in 2011, Portugal the Man’s The Satanic Satanist. I was pretty slow those first few years, and I barely get anything these days too. But man, in 2020 I probably bought half of my collection lol

I'm so jealous! My parents offloaded their entire collection to my sleazy uncle a year or two before I got serious about collecting.

Either way, it sounds good to my ears. Never heard the 2014 press.

Okay, I had to check, but I’m fairly sure I had 50 some vinyl around this time last year. Then I got a bunch of Andrew McMahon for my birthday that’s at the end of August and I lost my mind. I’m now up to 220 on hand. Close to 230 with preorders.

I have the 180 gram In Keeping Secrets pressing from 2014. Not too wild about that Brooklyn Vegan variant. If a cooler-looking variant comes around I might jump.

They had downsized the collection quite a bit by that time, but there were some great classic rock staples in there to start the collection for sure. Most of the sleeves were in bad shape but the records were mostly in great shape.

  12. Hadn’t even really occurred to me tbh, but I’ve been collecting for 10 years now. Passed the mark in June. Wish I’d catalogued on Discogs a little earlier than 2018 so I had data on my annual trajectory, but I’ve averaged about 44 records a year. 2021 is my highest fully recorded year with 49

Anyone else hesitant to buy vinyl from a concert merch booth? Particularly an outdoor amphitheater summer tour? Always worried they are somewhat damaged from the heat/travel

There's that possibility, and not wanting to lug it around.

Holding records during a show sucks, unless I'm dead set on it I wait until afterwards and if it is gone by that point it wasn't meant to be. Never thought about it from a "potentially damaged records" standpoint though.

As long as the sleeve isn’t damaged, which could indicate less than ideal handling/storage, it’s usually fine. Much of my early collection came from live shows because I liked giving money directly to the band and not being charged shipping - very rarely had issues. I wouldn’t buy at a Warped Tour type of situation or anything though, for *sigh* warping concerns

I have 3 records being delivered in the next few days and the average temp is 108. Hoping everything arrives without issue.

We had a house fire when I was a kid, would have loved to have my dad's collection. Of course the vinyl collection wasn't very high on the list of concerns but once I started collecting I've thought about it

Gonna Ride My Palomino, Ride 'im to the Fair.

If it hasn't been said already - this is how much a brand new album in store can cost in Toronto... most of the time.

Snagged that Coheed record. I've been waiting for something other than black for years now. A bit pricey but it's one of my favorite albums ever, so worth it.

  25. I don't usually buy anything at shows if I can preorder them and have them on release date weeks/months before the show
