I definitely bought that thing, though I haven't actually opened it yet. I viewed it more as a cute turntable for use with action figures.

 

That's awesome. I also think I might totally wear out a copy of Turnstile's GLOW ON. Dude is obsessed.

 

That does sound nice, but I don't want kids...
I mean, I could imagine popping in a Disney dvd for the little ones and then playing a picture disc of the movie's soundtrack on the turntable for them right after, but I don't want kids...

How did that turn out, haven’t listened yet…

 

the pressing or the album itself? the album is pretty good for a rerecording. Jon's voice sounds good for the most part, although it lacks a little bit of the snarl he had 20 years ago. musically there are a couple small instrumentation changes that i don't mind, although they still sound odd since the OG versions have been engrained in my brain for nearly 20 years now. there's even a slight lyric change or two for the sake of relevance and it turns out ok as well (e.g. on Gone, it's now "Tesla cages" instead of "Lexus cages")

 

there's an issue where they can't repress the original recording, right? hope that gets sorted out someday

 

i had suspected that might be the case, but wasn't actually aware if this was confirmed. if that's true, i'd love to see a new version of Nothing Is Sound as well. that was the first album i bought with my own money, and arguably their best.

 

for the record (pun) I am not sure if it was confirmed but I thought I read that somewhere

 

Re: The Beautiful Letdown, I think they just don't own the masters and wanted to put it out on vinyl for the 20th anniversary, so they pulled a Taylor.

The original was pressed by SRC 8-9 years ago. I have a copy of it on blue vinyl. They pressed Nothing Is Sound as well.

 

Saw Gouge Away last night and they RIPPED. Got the setlist which I put with my copy of burnt sugar and picked up the consider 7”

 

but of course, lmao. and i remember when they both got pressings. for whatever reason, i never picked one up (and part of me is glad i didn't because... SRC)

 

I know a lot of people have had trouble with SRC and they have a dubious reputation as far as pressing quality goes. Those two are both great, though.

Lol, that's the good thing about Amazon pre-orders...easy to cancel, or you may be able to get them to match the price of the retail cost.

 

I only ended up adding 29 records in July, my lowest total since March. Barring the unexpected (like deciding not to buy anything), this month I will join the four-figure club.
