Waiting on all of these announcements is giving me anxiety.

The Smartpunk variant was up a day early on the Shoppay app. I ordered that one.

Hahaha. I love how we all get when DTR starts teasing/announcing drops. Commentary dripping in sarcasm yet we still throw our money at them.

Either way, I can't wait to see what it is.

I'll just leave a GIF of Pingu here.

  10. Yesterday, I seriously considered getting rid of all of my vinyl to focus on just buying CDs again. It's so much more affordable, I have a CD player in my car, they take up way less space, etc etc etc. We're all going broke over these vinyl prices, breaking our backs trying to move them all... What are we even doing?!?!

I collected vinyl for over 10 years before getting a player. It’s art to me, outside of the music. I don’t get that feeling from CD’s.

  13. I know… siiiigh. I have a handful of records still in various stages of shipment, and I got too many in the mail over the last week or two, and once again am out of room for them and any of the new ones. I need a bigger apartment. 600 square feet is too small for this hobby.

DTR will be something stupid like An Angle

  15. I got an acrylic mat and it does indeed sound better. But mostly it looks better, heh

Collecting vinyl is currently making me happy. Keeping my depression at bay and giving me something to look forward to.
I'm in a pretty small apartment too, but I'm really enjoying collecting records. Like Greg said, I see them as art too.

For me personally, having something tangible again after years of streaming is a nice experience. In the 90's and early '00's I had tons of cassettes and CD's. At one point I could not wait to rid myself of them all. If only I knew they'd make a comeback.

Here's the Drive Thru announcement: "Guys, we are so excited to be bringing these obscure field recordings from the Drive Thru offices to vinyl for the first time. We know it's what you've all been waiting for."

We reach for the longest shadow

Yeah I had this thought, except it was to switch to HQ digital recordings. I thought about how little I listen to vinyl because of the inconvenience and having a toddler and not really having time for everything involved with listening to a record... but I bought him the Bluey vinyl and he's super interested in it and asks to listen to it all the time, so I think I'm back in.

All Drive Thru releases going forward will all be full length albums!

Only catch is they will be on 3" vinyl box sets, compatible only with this beauty by Crosley.

Each 3" vinyl box set is ALWAYS bundled with a Crosley 3" player.

    All sales final.

Gonna Ride My Palomino, Ride 'im to the Fair.

I have some serious memories of playing vinyl for my guys. If it wasn't for them, I'd probably have ditched vinyl to be honest.
The first few percussive sounds of "Gobbledigook" on Sigur Ros' "Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust" are forever connected to my bubby bouncing his butt on the ground and I'm so thankful for that. Listening to music became an experience for us.
people can have this experience with digital music - but, for us, it's more active.
