Gonna Ride My Palomino, Ride 'im to the Fair.

Does anyone in this group still buy albums on CD?
Do you have a deciding factor? I'm mulling over a few particular albums that have $50 (vinyl) price tags vs. $20 (CD) price tags... in my mind I could buy two albums at $20 a piece than one at $50 (that's a duh... but y'know.) The $50 is because the album has been split onto two discs... and it's 2023...

  2. I still buy CDs sometimes. I wish they'd make a comeback the same way cassettes have.

I wish I still had the cassettes and CDs I owned during the 90's. Biggest regret selling them for practically nothing in the early 2000's.

A buddy of mine is saying that they're sort of coming back. I guess due to the insane costs for one album nowadays I wouldn't be surprised. I've always been a sucker for the physical aesthetic to an album anyways.

I bought my first cds in December 1995 with birthday money when I turned 13. Presidents of the USA self titled and Nirvana Incesticide were my first purchases...

I've given away and sold lots of rare cd's throughout the years somehow I still have close to 2,000 cd's! I don't even have a cd player in my house yet they're all still stored in their now defunct Ikea shelves collecting dust. (I even started dumping my Playstation games in there).

Yeah - I totally understand what you're saying... I just love holding and seeing things. It fills my heart with joy and the sight of things can trigger all sorts of positive emotions. So, I totally get it... getting others to understand is a whole other enigma.

I moved my cd's from their cases to binders (shudder) but if I was going to live in a condo - there was just no way. The cases live on; (I went through an autograph phase and have, surprisingly, a lot of autographed cd jackets) so I can't get rid of 'em.

Long live physical media, ha ha

Besides myself, you had just as many cd's as me throughout our teenage years.

I purged a lot of my 90s pop, hip hop after high school which I regret doing. Then when I moved into an apartment in Toronto I purged a lot nu metal.

When I moved into my current house I packed and moved all my vinyl to my parents for 2 months. I didn't trust the movers to handle my shit. That's the downfall to physical media... Having to move it!

Oh totally. I didn't know anyone else who had as much as we did. Ha!

One funny(?) anecdote of one of my recent purges: I was getting rid of my Blink 182 albums and the store I brought 'em to didn't buy them, or so I thought, cause I found a hankering to go back and listen to "Enema of the State." But when I went to look for it, it was the only album the store bought off me... damn... I'm without my Enema now, ha ha.

I echo your sentiments regarding anyone handling the vinyl. I put my albums in bags and carried them all myself.

Currently streaming KITS on my lunch break and I'll work my way back to WTWCD for my commute home from work.

is it the same for you? Prestigious

I listened to When The World Comes Down last week (or maybe the week before), and it's still my favorite of their records. Definitely going to pick that one up when it's available.

  17. I lean towards vinyl if it's a pretty variant for a new release from an artist I really like. If it's an artist I'm not as familiar with that I'm just starting to check out, or it's an artist I really like but an older album I just happen to be missing, I get used CDs for way cheaper.

Funny that I saw their Instagram post but couldn't view it because my app is being glitchy. So, I was hoping someone would say something here.
