We reach for the longest shadow

I just think people didn't care about the album. My wife, who has liked Adele albums in the past, hasn't ever mentioned it to me, and I'm honestly not sure if she even listened through it all the way once.

Besides “Easy On Me,” nothing was really a big hit. Compare to her last album, where each single was a smash, and it’s kind of a flop for her. They were very stupid for pressing that many albums.

  5. Wasn't it the best selling album worldwide in 2021?

I mean the numbers @bradsonemanband posted show that she can move CD's just not vinyl records.

But her numbers were kind of inflated with 25 since she held back that release from streaming for a bit of time.

  10. best selling album of the year, sure, but i think her team expected to sell like double what they actually did. it definitely didn't bomb though haha.

Bumping for all the Hum love. This album pressing sounds amazing and it was definitely my favorite record from 2020, might still be since, honestly.

I just started rehearsing with a buddy again and we want to build something focused on this sound specifically, maybe mixing in some other styles like Deftones, Deafheaven, and Turnstile with some of the OG shoegaze dynamics that MBV and slowdive put out. It's a bit lofty, I know, but so inspiring!

I got six records in the mail today, and while that isn't necessarily a huge number, it was five separate orders all coming on the same day.

I just listened to Sleep's Dopesmoker for the first time last night. Just bought the Third Man repress from last year and it sounds amazing. Never really gave them much of a shot before this, but figured it was worth all the hype and it delivered. Specifically reminded me of the song SuperBug by KG&LW. Definitely reccommend

It followed two albums that were literally among the biggest releases of all time, after a six-year gap. I think they were always going to hit a "slump" compared to 21 and 25, and they just thought they'd get more demand than they did for the vinyl. But, like, the LP still sold more than any other vinyl album released in 2021, including Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR, an album that couldn't be described as anything but an unqualified success.

  20. yeah exactly. i'm not saying it wasn't a huge album. i'm just saying they overshot their expectations of vinyl sales for it, and now the remainder of them are in just about every discount bin and Big Lots store.

It’s not vinyl, but I went back to Target again before I head back to London today and I couldn’t not get this either. Put the word ‘exclusive’ on anything Taylor and I will just buy it no questions asked

Right. This is what I’m saying. When you have two albums with nothing but bulletproof singles and the next one has only one big single, that’s still underperforming.

  24. now you gotta find the other ones. i think there's 4 different journals? something like that

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. Will definitely be fun to check this out sometime. Definitely grab the 3M press. I kept seeing it around all my local shops so I finally caved and I'm glad I did.
