Death Touches Us, From the Moment we Begin to Love Supporter

    A story.

In late 2008 I called a two year relationship off. It was destroying my mental health holding on to something that was just not meant to be. I told myself I wouldn't get serious for awhile. A few months after I decided to sign up for an online dating site. The first person to send me a PM was my now wife. I told myself I didn't want anything serious but decided to meet up eventually. When we met we just, clicked...

Obviously the first thing I did when we first started dating was I made her a mix cd and the first song was "The Day You Fell Apart" by The New Frontiers. The album Mending was a big album that always brings me back to where it all began. Present day, we've been together 14 years (married for 12) and have 3 wonderful boys.

Not too long ago in the thread we talked about white whales and I mentioned that Mending as being one of my tops. Shortly after I got a PM from someone on the site basically offering me the album for free! I was shocked. He said he wanted someone to have it who would actually appreciate it and asked me to "pay it forward" in my life somehow. I forwarded him the money to cover shipping and as of today, I have a copy!

I threw it on this evening, and I got really emotional. Maybe because I was thrilled to finally have a copy, or maybe it was bringing up a whirlwind of emotions reflecting on how far life has taken me to this point. It was definitely a moment.

I haven't been active in this community that long but this site and AP.net have been a part of me for the last 18 years. I've just been following from a distance. If it wasn't for this community and thread, this wouldn't have happened.

So I just wanted to say a public thank you to @cashlion for being gracious enough to offer me this. I am forever greatful!

Looks like merch I'd wear if it was 2004 haha. I haven't listened to them since LFTL. I should give this new album a go.

Are any of the albums post 2007 worth my time?

  11. not really. there's maybe a small handful of worthwhile songs, but full albums? no.

I think most of their albums have a few pretty cool songs and some definite misses. Not consistent, but nothing really offensively bad imo

Their last record, Heartwork, has a handful of tracks I still come back to every so often. Their single “Fuck You” (presumably gonna be on the new one) last year was kind of fun also. Felt like In Love and Death era Used.

They fixed your brain when you were young.

Last album was better than not. Some duds on there, and it feels long, but pretty good overall. The Canyon is not great. Imaginary Enemy also has some good songs, just very pop forward. Admittedly haven't checked out any of the other post LFTL albums.

Here's another RSD '23 release that just got confirmed. Bastille - MTV Unplugged

  17. It’s a good record and all but this is wild, haha. It’s like 20 minutes of music too. But suddenly the Pray For Paris variants that have been in my wantlist for years and don’t go for like than like $400 don’t seem so bad anymore :crylaugh:

  18. Folklore Long Pond Sessions and The 1975 with the orchestra are the only 2 RSD releases that immediately caught my eye on the list this year... I swear these lists get weaker every year.

HORSE the Band "The Mechanical Hand" for RSD?! I'm stoked to blast Birdo on my TT.

Also in for: The 1975, Poe, Taproot, Soul Asylum, The Cure and Taylor if I can get my hands on it.

Sooo many unnecessary represses, and I'm amazed by how many of the artists I'm interested in are releasing live sessions.
