Of sugar and ice I am made

Add De-Loused and Ugly Organ to the ridiculous number of influential 2003 releases.

2003 was definitely a big year, but I won't personally feel the need to start applying for AARP benefits until the 2004 classics start hitting 20.

  3. Holy fuck 2003 was insane.

Am I just an old man in thinking that kids nowadays in 20 years aren’t going to have this many influential albums to look back on with adoration like 2002 and 2003 does for us?

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

02/03 releases got me into the genre. But personally 05 is gonna be a tough one. A mix of anticipating records and discovering FBR was just…. A lot

Same, 03-08 was so influential but 2005 will always be my high point. Can you imagine the potential 20 year anniversary shows we could be getting over the next several years?!

Fuck. Can't believe Two Lefts is 20. I remember going to the CD release show in Columbus. Catch me in the right mood, and I might say that's my favorite RK album.

I vividly recall the first time I heard Death Cab. It was the video for The New Year on 120 Minutes. I distinctly remember my pop punk saturated brain being kind of confused by what I was hearing. I loved it, but didn't quite know what to call it.

Yeah, I really love the moodier songs on Two Lefts. Over Thinking was huge for me. And it has aged well.

End to End is a banger as well.

Definitely my favorite RK album, even though I got into them when Mmhmm came out.

I'll be turning 40 this year as well and, yeah, it certainly has me looking back at the music of my youth more than ever. There are now many things I (thankfully) don't at all recognize in my 20 year old self, but his emotional side can still be tapped when revisiting these classics.

Top 5 songs from '03 that bring me right back to my emotionally regressed 20 years old self:

    Alkaline Trio's Blue Carolina

Dashboard's Hands Down (I'll go to bat for this being arguably the crowning lyrical achievement of '03 emo. It doesn't matter how clumsy it is in retrospect. It's just so direct and pure. From "Hands down, this is the best day..." evokes a clearer picture than most movies of the era.)

Death Cab's Passenger Seat (first dance at my wedding)

    Mae's Movie Script Ending

    Relient K's Over Thinking

    fall away Supporter

I received a Plans cd from my aunt for one of my birthdays growing up. I mostly listened to bands like Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, and even Linkin Park, and I was so thrown by what I was hearing. I had to return to the album a few times before I finally admitted to myself that I loved it.

I love the Movielife's Walking on Glass, but I will forever laugh at the line "Why can't I just understand, what's inside you? Is it just guts, and black stuff..." Even my first listen clocked that as a super weird wtf kind of line.

I've been underwhelmed with their selection so far, but I think I may have to grab this one at some point.
