anybody have thoughts on this preamp? looking into getting a U-Turn Basic as a much needed upgrade.

Man, kinda want Southern Weather but I'll be out of town Sunday. haha Probably shouldn't spend money anyway. Hope you find buyers! (I'm sure you'll make a ton off the RSD Deja Entendu) haha

Didn't realize that was specific to the one with the different artwork - I bought mine like a week later or something, assumed it was the same deal. I'll change the listing, thanks for the heads up.

 

Twas! Turns out a buddy I work with traded it into the record store. When I told him what I found in the used bin he was like: "Oh, I could have just sold that to you for cheap." *Face palm*

 

No problem. Also just a heads up, but you can buy that record brand new for around $20. Just in case you wonder why no one bids on it.

 

I know nothing about it personally but asked a friend who had one. He said the ground didn't work well so he had some issues with hum/buzz from his speakers through this... Could have been just the way he hooked it up. At that price it's worth experimenting with it.

 

Looks like I'm on a roll. Assuming no one bids, I'll probably re-list it.

 

I've heard good things, especially for the price. I have a similar model and it's been performing really well.

Vinyl people, does a little warping cause long term issues with a record? I got a Jimmy Eat World "Damage" record in the mail, and it's slightly warped, but plays fine as far as I can tell. Is that likely to change because of the warping though?

Ya no rush, just figured I'd take a peek.

 

If the record plays well, it should be fine. If you can't hear any difference in playback from the warped part then it is minor.
The only thing you should worry about damaging is the cartridge or stylus. That's in extreme cases though. If the tone arm isn't traveling up/down enough for the surface of the vinyl to actually hit the cartridge (bottom out, if you will) then it should be fine.
The vinyl should continue to play fine so long as there's no additional warping. Store that thing vertically at room temperature and all should be well for the life of the vinyl.

Also, separate note - I'm looking into Audioengine A2+. Does anyone have them? If so, what are your thoughts?

I have the Audioengine A2+. Love them.
I live in a pretty small apartment so I'm not testing the upper reaches of the volume on them but they get plenty loud when I do need them to with no distortion. Ýou're not going to get receiver type levels but if you're just casually listening in 1 room these will handle that without a problem. I highly recommend them!
