Unreal. I don't really follow this label, but has there been any explanation? Like have they not released anything this year? Or are they releasing stuff and just not sending you the records you paid for?

 

Yeah definitely. This is the response I got from the owner of the label the other day.

Hey mike

We have been going through a TON of changes this year, we moved, changed fulfillment and many other things as well and with this it has caused a delay in our schedule for this year and also caused for a lighter year.

We are working on figuring out how to make it the best for the subscribers as possible however, just taking some time to figure that out currently.

With that said, I can offer you two options..

1) wait it out and know we will make the best of this possible for you and the others

2) we can offer you some store credit to our store for in stock items in exchange of the subscription.

Let me know what you'd like to do!

They owe a ton of bands money (SUPPOSEDLY a bunch to The Wonder Years)

He keeps repressing The Upsides because they need funds and they're contracted for purely clear varients. (Again, second hand from a band member, sounds weird).

I guess they owe Moose Blood money too, thus why they signed elsewhere for the new record, after NS gave indications it was gonna be theirs.

Label's struggling and not paying bands, but dude just bought himself a Range Rover.

Yikes. I'd say the odds of you waiting it out and having them come through are slim to none, so if I were you I'd just take the store credit option and bail. For $250, I'd imagine you've got a minimum of 13 full lengths headed your way (based on them being around $18 each). To drop that kinda money all at once for a subscription service though, I'd definitely be expecting some exclusives or something too though. Make em throw in some t-shirts.

And for the unsolicited opinion portion of my comment: I think vinyl subscription services are bonkers. I set aside $20 every two weeks and snag a record that I know I want and I'm literally never disappointed, literally.

 

I really need to set a vinyl budget and stick to it. It's so difficult though when random preorders pop up that I can't plan for.

I also subscribed to No Sleep for this year. They did not fulfill their promise of shipping every record as it's released but I have received all the releases that came out this year... I'd pester them about getting your money back. If you paid through Paypal you may be able to appeal to them (I think they have a 90 or 180 day purchase protection) but since this is an order that should be filled in an ongoing manner they may help out.

Holy shit... I just went through the stuff I've got and I'm mixing up 2015 records that got sent to me really late... So... I've got Shai Hulud and that's it.
Da fuq!? I'm interested to see if they'll be extending the "subscription" for another 6 months outside of 2016 since they haven't sent me a damn thing.

Just looked at their website and they don't list pressing info like they used to so I don't even know if they're going to do a sub version of that record because that's a co-release with Holy Roar Records. Fug.

 

I've heard the same things from a few industry people I've talked to. People are none too happy.

 

I'd love to see the IIOI shirt you are referencing.

 

Really need to pick up a copy of this album.

Where'd you get the 180g TDAG?

 

Record label vinyl subscriptions almost always end in tears, I'm actually surprised the No Sleep one lasted for as many years as it did. I got scammed my Makoto and Blood of the Young (more fool me) back in the day. Never again.

 

Anyone else subscribed to Ghost Ramp Monthly?

My most recent purchases were converge - Jane doe 2xlp, the used acoustic, have mercy 7 inch flexi-disc

 

It seems to be somewhat readily available locally. I found 2 copies of it at one of my local shops. That being said it was PRICEY. Was $46 CAD so about $35 USD. Most records are in the $20-$30 CAD range.

 

The one they sent me was the sub variant. 180g gold. But the more negative shit I hear the more I want to just cash in my chips and get what I can now. I don't see this ending well.

 

I have had nothing but amazing experiences from Polyvinyl for their singles series subscriptions, although they didn't do one this year.
Joyful Noise has THE BEST subscription series.
Also, Asian Man is reliable and constantly putting out great releases.

So they're not all bad. Honestly, the past 2 years I sub'd to No Sleep were fine. You get some releases after release date because they'd ship them in batches but it's been fine until this year.

Yeah. I emailed paypal to see what they can do... I'll let you know if I have any luck there.
